Eventyrlig musik for 4. klasser 🎶
Finally caught up with Season 2 of SoundTREK, and was genuinely surprised to see my arrangement of Themyscira featured in the @hanszimmer episode.
When I was working on it, the real puzzle was: what's the orchestral equivalent of those electronic ticks and hi-hats? I remembered how Michael Jackson tapped on glass bottles for percussion on his Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough demo, so I wrote bottles into the score. That ended up being the detail everyone commented on. Not what I expected to be remembered for.
I also arranged Now We Are Free and Pirates of the Caribbean featured in the same program, from the Hollywood Galla concert (2022) with @drsymfoniorkestret , conducted by Ludwig Wicki, and featuring @drjuniorkoret .
Thanks to @yohanbourne and @ida_kys for putting orchestral film music front and center. Congrats on a great season. Here's to Season 3.

February.
Month eight in Los Angeles. A month of rhythm.
Work was busy.
Life felt steady.
Some big American firsts: Super Bowl, Valentine’s pickleball, Chinese New Year, but mostly: routine.
1. Morning coffee on San Vicente. Sun out, mind on.
2. Found a soccer pitch and started playing again. I’d missed that.
3. Long day at Sonic Fuel with good people.
4. Film Composers Trivia Night, and yes, we won.
5. Finally dialed in the espresso setup at home. Small victories.
6. Lego flowers finding their place in the apartment.
7. A lobster roll in Santa Monica.
8. Homemade tiramisu.
Less movement than January.
More foundation.

I recently joined Christina Holm Dahl on the Danish podcast Musikerskab for a conversation about my work as an arranger and orchestrator.
We talk about building a career in film music, moving to Los Angeles, working on major productions, and what it really means to be part of large-scale Hollywood projects both creatively and practically.
The episode is in Danish 🇩🇰
Grateful for the thoughtful questions and the chance to reflect on the journey.

Ten years ago, my career shifted dramatically when Jóhann Jóhannsson asked me to orchestrate music for Arrival. It was my first major international credit. A short engagement at the time, but the film that keeps coming back. The one people still reach out about. The one that changed everything.
On February 18, the London Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Weeden, performed music by Jóhann from five different films at the Barbican Centre.
Reopening those projects this month carried a certain melancholy. Jóhann’s approach to the human voice, in Arrival and beyond, was singular. Fearless, fragile, architectural. I often find myself wondering how he might have continued to evolve that language.
When Anthony, who led the orchestration on Arrival, reached out to revisit the material, it felt like a circle completing itself. Though my contribution to the original film was brief, it has been the project that has meant the most to my career and to my life as a musician.
There is something powerful about following music as it finds new stages. In a way, I follow it, and it follows me. To have it played at the Barbican, a place I have long held in reverence, was a privilege.
I remain deeply grateful for that first phone call. It set more in motion than I understood at the time.
I am thankful that Jóhann’s music and his legacy continue to live, breathe, and fill rooms like this. 🙏

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to see HAEVN’s symphonic concerts at AFAS Live this weekend.
It was a real pleasure serving as arranger on this project alongside Geoff Lawson. Clear vision, musical trust, and a shared commitment to letting the symphonic format breathe.
Grateful to the artists as well, for trusting the musical inspiration and giving the orchestra space to grow.
Thank you, Amsterdam. Thank you, HAEVN. Thank you, Geoff.

January.
I passed my driving test this month.
The German examiner concluded with:
“I didn’t expect a Dane to drive a Swedish car.”
Then: “Easy pass.”
I answered: “Vielen Dank, Herr. Schönen Tag!”
Somewhere between Paris, New York, and Boston—during a snowstorm—I moved out of Culver City, and Los Angeles became home.
1. Homemade bread for a butter tasting. (You’ll never guess which butter won!)
2. Cookies and milk. No explanation needed.
3. Homemade lasagna, including the pasta sheets.
4. Jazz with pianist Josh Nelson and Danish singer Sinne Eeg.
5. A boulangerie in Paris.
6. Arrival in New York.
7. Grand Central by night.
8. Tournament of Champions: squash in the middle of Grand Central.
9. Central Park by daylight, covered in snow.
10. Boston—below zero in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.
A month of movement. And a quiet settling.

Proud to share Da Mumbo Jumbo blev kæmpestor (When Mumbo Jumbo Grew Giant)—a warm, funny, and big-hearted adventure straight out of @jakob_martin_strid ’s beloved universe.
Directed by @kkiilerich , produced by @afilm_dk , with a wonderfully characterful score by @halfdan_e which I had the pleasure of bringing to life orchestrationally.
I served as orchestrator on the film, with Andreas Christiansen as music copyist. A great collaboration, focused on story, humor, and heart.
In Danish cinemas for the winter school holiday.
Perfect for families with kids.
Big feelings. Big orchestra. One very big Mumbo Jumbo. 🎬🎶
