I have known Retrouvius—their design and their philosophy—for a long time. In the past, AD has featured private homes designed by them—including Adam and Maria’s own residence. However, this marks the first time that their shop, office, and workshop are being presented as a standalone feature.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside Felix Speller on this photo production for AD. It is a place with an almost „Harry Potter-esque“ atmosphere—somewhat labyrinthine in feel, as three separate buildings have been interconnected here. A magical and inspiring space that serves equally as a workspace and as a repository for materials and antique furniture.
At the heart of it all lies the constant commitment to reintegrating salvaged, reclaimed, and vintage materials back into the cycle. Special thanks go to Nick Hughes and Adam Hills. Particular praise is also due to Felix Speller for the magnificent images, as well as to Valerie Präkelt for the accompanying text. Furthermore, I hope that on my next visit, I will also have the chance to meet Maria in person—who, unfortunately, was unable to attend on that particular day.
Featured in AD's April 2026 Issue, this Small Space Apartment in Düsseldorf was designed by Batek Architects. I worked solo on the photographs and the styling. The owners were traveling and Patrick Batek was in Berlin by the time of the production, thanks for the trust. The real companion that day was the beautiful, magical light.

Here are some highlights from the last weeks from Paris, London, Sprockhövel, Munich, Bochum, Celerina, Cologne and the last image, a Northern Lights shot taken by my brother in our hometown. Concert highlights with Leif Vollebekk and Black Sea Dahu.
