Concrete is a mixture of sand, gravel, cement and water.
It’s the world most commonly used building material and allows us to create whatever shape the architect envisions. The architecture style of #brutalism is called like that because of the french word, Béton Brut, or raw concrete, not because its mostly brutal, bunkerlike, futuristic looking buildings of the 60s and 70s.
Some people despise it, some people don´t care, some people love it. You can count me to the latter ones.
When we did the scouting with KGB Locationservice
@dreschi67 for a personal project and I saw the Hygiene Institute in Berlin, I instantly knew, that I wanted to shoot there.
The combination of the rigid concrete and the green plants gave me the idea to call the project BRASILIA. (funny though, we ended up not shooting with the plants…)
