NEW ZINE ‘BRAUNSCHWEIG’ OUT!
All pictures were selected and edited by David Solomons and show a cross-section of my older and more recent street photography work from my home town, taken between 1985 to 2023. The zine is available either via David’s website or from me for a donation of EUR 10 or more. All proceeds from my donation campaign will go to the PARKBANK e. I’m overly happy to see two of my pics on display in London in two weeks on the occasion of the Street Badass London Street Photography Fest. I’ll be around in London for a week, happy to meet previously virtual faces on-site in London!
The first one is from Rome, Trevi Fountain was a complete mess, so packed with people you couldn’t even move one step forward without crashing into someone else, no chance for a good photo I thought… I turned back, ready to leave the spot whe suddently a scream presumably covering all people around the fountain made me look back: A man kneeing down and proposing to his loved one, what a great scene and slice of life I was lucky to witness in that moment! No chance for firing a shot from eye level, it was way too crowded, so I lifted my camera and took a few shots from above. And exactly one was good, in focus and showing the ring and the future bride in awe! She said yes! The crowd applauded, look at all the happy real smiles with only so few mobile phones lifted!
The second one is also from Italy on a trip from Chioggia, where I stayed, to Venice. I took a Vaporetto – one of those public boats – and the passage also included a short bus ride from one boat stop to the Lido station. I was standing in the middle of the bus and immediately saw that beautiful lady dressed in so much style entering the bus. The god of street photography was good to me on that day since she took a free seat immediately in front of where I stood, so I could take a few portrait snaps without her noticing it. Such a graceful stranger, I couldn’t ask her for her permission but hope she’d like her picture if she could see it.
