New women’s bespoke in development for Lloyda
I’ve tried a couple of new techniques with this jacket which has been a great opportunity to develop my skills.
- First time doing a jacket with princess seam, which drastically helped add shape in the bust and waist, I mirrored this seam on the canvas too which has worked well.
- Hand sewed the facing on the lapels which I have seen very traditional tailors and Italian tailors doing (mainly with finer cloths for extra precision) but I felt it would be useful to do with the dramatic shape of these lapels - I’m pretty pleased how they’ve come out and I have to say it was extremely accurate compared to machine sewing, although I do need to refine my technique in order to do it quicker and more consistent.
- Using real feathers has also been exciting, adding another layer to the design. more feathers are being added.
