We joined with Susana Muhamed - former Colombian minister of the environment - outside the First International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels here in Santa Marta, Colombia! The message is clear: it’s time for our movements to follow the lead of the global south and phase out fossil fuels!!!

We’re here on the ground in Santa Marta, Colombia, for the First International Conference on Transitioning Away From Fossil Fuels. We’re joining with youth, indigenous peoples, and civil society of the global south to demand an end to U.S. imperialism and extractivism, and a binding mechanism for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. Follow along for more updates.

Offshore oil and gas is turning up the heat in Santa Marta (no seriously, it’s hot out here!) ☀️🥵 Offshore is the missing piece of the fossil fuel transition. And without it the transition is incomplete. We cannot let oil and gas companies try to be sneaky and try to move their activities out of sight and into our ocean! ❌🛢️➡️🌊 We must continue the call for climate justice, with frontline communities at the core! We will be sharing more info soon as to how we can all fight offshore expansion! ✊🌎🌍🌏 #climatejustice #oceanjustice #COMMITTOOCEAN #offshore #nomoreoffshore

Our Power, Our Planet 🌍⚡ This Earth Day, we’re reminded that the future of our planet is not out of reach, it’s in our hands. From our communities in Jamaica to the wider Caribbean, young people have the power to lead, to act, and to demand a more just and sustainable world. At Zero Hour Jamaica, we believe that real change happens when people come together protecting our environment, building climate resilience, and standing up for the communities most affected by climate change. The challenges are real, but so is our power. Our voices. Our actions. Our responsibility. Let’s use it. #EarthDay #OurPowerOurPlanet #ZeroHourJamaica #youthlead

We mourn the loss of Nancy Metayer, a dedicated environmentalist and public servant. Nancy made history as the first Black and Haitian American female Commissioner to be elected in Coral Springs, Florida, first elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. On December 4, 2024, she was appointed by her fellow Commissioners to serve as Vice Mayor. She was beloved by her community, known for caring deeply about the environment and her community. We at Zero Hour had the honor of having Nancy as a panelist at our Youth Climate Summit in Miami in 2019. She was very inspiring and her presence was infectious, everyone who met her and heard her speak knew that we were in the presence of someone very special. Nancy’s life was cut short by the person who was supposed to be her biggest ally, her husband. This was a femicide, and we are devastated and angry that her light was taken so violently from this world. We demand justice for Nancy Metayer, and send our deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones.

Make the call. Stop the war. Trump has openly threatened to obliterate "a whole civilization." These are not empty words. They are genocidal threats that demand an immediate response from Congress. Congress must return from recess now and use every tool available to stop the attacks and escalation in Iran. Call (202) 224-3121 or use Five Calls to contact your Representatives and Senators today: 🔗 fivecalls.org 1) Demand Congress return from recess 2) Oppose ANY military strike on Iran 3) Block the use of nuclear weapons 4) Hold this administration accountable

No funding. No insurance. No fossil fuel projects. It’s that simple, behind every pipeline or plant there is: • A bank financing it • An insurer de-risking it • Public money making it possible That’s why campaigns targeting finance are working and projects are being delayed, blocked, and shut down. ✨️Take action to demand that banks end their support for fossil fuels via our link in bio.✨️

The SPEED Act is another attempt by the ruling class to siphon off natural resources for profit, while silencing the people. America's bedrock environmental laws are under attack. Corporate polluters will never be satisfied and this latest assault on our environmental safeguards is being done at a time when AI data centers are being proposed all over the country. This dangerous bill is designed to make it even easier for corporations to contaminate our water, land, and air. Call your members of Congress and tell them to say NO to the SPEED Act. #thisiszerohour #environmentaljustice #congress
