Recently was on a show where I had rented out some gear to production. One part was this @ignitedigiaustralia handle that helped us go from studio to handheld and vice versa. Long story short, repeated use of the ratchet system caused the aluminum teeth to get rounded down making the removal of the handle impossible. I messaged the guys at Ignite who informed me that they have made a beefier version, and within 3 days the new parts had made their way from Australia.
Renting gear to production is a great way to make more cash on the gear you’ve invested in, and the great guys at Ignite Digi have developed new parts for older products to keep the rentals incoming!

A last minute ask by the director for me to get my @freeflysystems Movi Pro means we didn’t use a ReadyRig. Felt like my arms were about to fall off with this very long tracking shot, but we got it, and with very minimal z-axis shake!

@crdbagofficial are still my favourite way to organize on set. Such an easy way to make sure everything has a home, from big items such as gimbal plates and AKs all the way down to the smallest screws to help the 1st AC finish a tight and neat build. So pumped that they’ve now released their new gear that we saw at NAB and CineGear. Next step is getting my hands on it!

This was the moment we finally nailed the one shot on the high speed camera that we had been trying for all morning. Everything lined up perfectly: the movement from the cable cam, the timing of serving as the camera crossed the centre of the court, and the subtle orbiting pan to keep the player off centred and the ball to remain centre-frame. When the ball exited the frame, it looks like it’s not even a single pixel off from dead centre. Happy to see how we all came together for this one.
Once the footage is done with I’ll post the shot!

Working with a talent DP is always so much fun. They can take a scene and work with all department heads to make sure it fits the director’s wants and needs. This fun a very interesting themed music video that was a mix of medieval and modern. This was a scene where a monk was lip syncing part of the song and we wanted the area to resemble an abbey. And yes, the talent did have his hard cut like a real monk!
