Meet your host: Peter, better known as Mr Kayz. Rapper, lyricist, and beatmaker, he’s spent years shaping the sound of Paris’s underground hip-hop scene from the neighborhood that helped build it.
If you want to understand Paris, don’t just visit the monuments. Sit in the café. Walk the side streets. Listen to the music coming through the speakers and the stories behind it.
Barbès and the 18th arrondissement have been shaping French hip-hop for decades. A neighborhood built on movement, identity, and diaspora culture, where music, fashion, and community all blur together.
This experience starts inside Combo Café, part coffee shop, part recording studio, where artists come to make music and trade ideas. You’ll listen to French rap classics, build beats together, and see how the neighborhood continues to shape the culture around it.
This isn’t just a music session. It’s a way into a different side of Paris, guided by someone who lives it every day.
Book an experience with Mr Kayz and you’ll leave with more than a song. You’ll leave understanding the rhythm of the neighborhood a little differently.

Barbès doesn’t make it onto most Paris itineraries. It’s where the diaspora built something permanent that’s diverse, creative, and completely its own.
@thisiskayz is a Paris rapper who spent his childhood here trailing his mom through markets and waiting while she said hi to everyone she knew. He used to hate it. Now he says it’s the only place he never wants to leave.
If you want to experience the real Paris, this is where you need to be.
📍Barbès, Paris 18th
Hip-hop is a powerful blend of tradition and adaptation. It draws from the past while constantly reinventing itself — and that’s what has always inspired me. Hip-hop opened so many doors for me. It allowed me to travel, to connect with people, and to see the world in a different way. I’ve always felt a deep sense of gratitude for that, and I wanted to give something back.
I’ve tried to do that through my music — always with respect for the art form, for hip-hop itself, and for the trust my fans have placed in me. But I wanted to take it even further.
That’s why, together with @airbnb , I decided to bring people into the places that inspired me — in the north of Paris, where hip-hop had a massive impact on my life.
