Moving through these movements, even just once a week, has been revitalizing.
Feeling the way my body is waking up. Knowing that with time Iāll work towards running again. And with even more time, Iāll start training for a marathon.
Shout out to the baby steps needed to take before I can look back and see how far Iāve come.
There is something about the world building and character creation possible through Dnd that really has me hooked.
I put this location together from 7 different maps and itās really setting the stage for our next encounter.
I need to put more details together, but Iāll be offering some games to play, both in person and online this summer. So if youāre interested let me know.
On this weekās writing session, I pulled:
Angel Card - āBirthā
Hollow Woods Card - āRider-less steedā
A page from the Complete the Story book - āIn Fairbanks, Alaska for a few days each summer, the sun doesnāt set until after midnight. Itās called the midnight sun and the locals had warned me. It would mess with my head. Maybe thatās why last night had turned out that way all I wanted was toā¦ā
Talked about somethingās that came to mind, took some time to write them down, and wrote myself a poem. Itās cool to mix and match ideas, to pull inspiration from things that already exist, and listen in on the conversations that happen when they are placed in context with each other.
And on the last week of national poetry month, I got my gallbladder removed.
At the start of 2023, I needed 23 staples to hold together the incision where they removed my spleen and the 15cm mass on it.
Iām tired of losing parts of myself. Iām tried of cozening up to pain. Of being so tightly wound I canāt touch my toes without bending my back.
But I believe in this body. I believe in strengthening, in lengthening, in practicing tenderness alongside sweating.
So I will. And eff it, Iāll write about it too.
Boom. Story time. Iāve been playing DnD since 2020.
I used to ask my poet friends, while looking around to make sure no one could hear me, āyo⦠you play dnd?ā
And the amount of folks that said āno, but I want toā was enough inspiration to learn how to run games. Iāve been GMing for a little under a year now and Iām absolutely loving it.
I want to provide more opportunities for folks that want to play but are skeptical, that want to play but donāt have the time for a longer campaign.
I see yāall. Iāve been yāall. Even if Iām new to running games, Iāve been facilitating for close to 20 years.
So for now, Iāll be posting these abbreviated recaps of the home game I have going on.
And maybe in the future, Iāll post a recap of a game weāve played together š²
I want to be connected more. Engaged with community more. But leaving the house feels hard. Posting has always felt hard. Talking to a live audience has always felt easier than talking to my own reflection.
So hereās my in between, Iāll go on live in the morning and edit that footage to a recap.
Iām trying yāall. Ask me questions if youāre curious. Or watch from the shadows like I have for too long. Either way, love you.
Today our Lower and Upper Elementary classes enjoyed poetry sessions with Febo! Each age group received a slightly different presentation that helped them understand a little more about poetry along with engaging examples from his work. Upper El students were also given a few prompts to write their own mini poems during the session. As you can probably tell from the the studentsā enthusiastic and attentive expressions, poetry with Febo was a big hit! Thank you @thisisfebo for spending your morning with us. ā¤ļø
Did you knowā¦April is National Poetry Month! And how lucky are we to have a Board President/parent/poet bringing engaging poetry experiences to our students this month! This morning our Wee Threes and Primary classes enjoyed an interactive and entertaining presentation with @thisisfebo . Thank you, Mr. Febo, for sharing your poetry with us. ššā¤ļø

In 23'-24' school year, he was the first ever poet in residence at his old stomping grounds, Lowell High School. There, he performed and ran workshops with every single English class in every single grade, reaching approximately over 3,000 students. Teen Spoken Word Festival, which brought teens from across Massachusetts for a three-day festival to participate in workshops, open mics, and poetry slams.
