[English below] Hà Nội đón cơn mưa đá bất chợt chiều tối qua ngay trước giờ chiếu phim, Á Space vô cùng cảm ơn các bạn khán giả đã vượt mưa lớn và đường xá xa xôi tới xem phim và trò chuyện cùng Komtouch Napattaloong.

Á Space would like to thank everyone who braved the sudden hailstorm in Hanoi yesterday evening, just before the screening, to come and watch the films and engage in conversation with Komtouch Napattaloong.
The four short films, spanning a decade of practice, revealed both the persistence and the shifts in his filmmaking. He also shared insights into this transition, from his early documentary works to more experimental practices, including video art and essayistic films. The secret film revealed at the end is his most recent work, completed in 2026; in his words, it was “a special screening occasion for the context of Vietnam.”
Á Space would like to thank Komtouch, wish him the very best with his upcoming feature-length project, and look forward to seeing his future works!

Corroded pixels intertwine with archival Cold War images, assembling a partial account of “development” in Thailand’s northeast. Voices drawn from Thailand’s Role in the Vietnam War and images from the Shell Film Company’s Mekong River project (1964), together with Isan Film Group’s Tongpan (1977), appear, distort and thin out. At irregular moments, rural farmers appear and speak plainly with the cameraperson, who is working with a nearly expired point-and-shoot digital camera. Texts conjured from these broken images form a restless presence that is part-archive, part-machine, part-memory. The film began with an outdated consumer digital camera discovered in the drawers of the filmmaker’s old family home. The footage was gathered during its final period of use. Its corroded sensor struggles to form a “perfect” image, producing distortions that run alongside the narratives of development it encounters.
Screenings:
- Sat, Feb 14, 18:15
- Sun, Feb 15, 14:30
We're excited to share the poster for ผีพัฒนา 𝐼𝑛 𝑆𝑢𝑚 alongside the screening schedule at @berlinale . The film will be shown twice in the Kino Betonhalle at Silent Green as part of Program 3 of @berlinaleforum .

Presenting from tomorrow until 30th November at @noirrowartspace 's Parallel II : InterZone, single channel silent video MY NAME IS MARILYN, A DAUGHTER OF SA-UDORN (2025) by Komtouch Napattalong and installation SENDING GRAVITY by Komtouch Napattalong and @dawnshoham are part of the ongoing Pickers and Packers project initiated by the two.
Drawing on Shoham’s research into Isaan migrant labor and its entanglement with Thailand-Israel-U.S geopolitics and occupation, the works explore the legacies of American empire, labor exploitation, and settler-colonial dynamics. Both works are installed at the Ramasun Historical Museum, formerly a U.S. military radio research station, operated during a period that marks the beginnings of Isaan labor migration to the Middle East, and now part of a state-run agricultural demonstration program. The works reflect on the intersections of development discourse, agricultural innovation, military strategy, and the enduring entanglements of imperial and state power on the lives of Isaan workers.
These works, situated at Ramasun, connect the legacies of American empire to the present-day realities of labor migration, post-war neglect, occupation and genocidal war, state violence, and the political and economic paradigms that continue to define Isaan workers' roles within global regimes of spectacle, development, and dispossession.
