So, this year at Expo West, we decided to take over a booth space. And not just any booth space. We created a somewhat functional, old school, traditional diner, inclusive of our very own merch and newspaper, hot off the press, to bring the whole thing to life.
And frankly, we weren’t so sure how it would land. The response surprised us, as we were one of the few agencies that activated onsite this year. Over and over we heard:
“I didn’t know agencies could do this.”
“I can’t believe you’re here.”
“What a great idea.”
We set up shop for one reason, and one reason only: to spark in person conversations.
This was an opportunity to meet people face-to-face, get out from behind our screens. We shook hands. We listened to what people had to say. We learned ALL about products packed with protein (big theme on the floor this year!) We celebrated the little, yet important, human moments.
Expo West reminded us of something simple but easy to forget in an industry built on digital tools and Slack threads: Sometimes the most strategic thing you can do is just show up and be a real human being.
Yes, the booths were bigger and the formats were faster at the Expo. The categories are clearly more crowded than ever. But underneath it all, the real takeaway is that brands grow when they create experiences, meet real needs, and build genuine connections.

2025 was a solid year for BRAINS. From just about every data point, we met or surpassed our goals for the year. High fives. Nice work. But the reason why all comes down to our team. A group of people who showed up through it all.
Who pushed the work forward, challenged each other, protected the culture, and kept the bar high even when things moved exceptionally fast. The most important thing we built in 2025 was impact for our clients because there was a lot of trust found among the brainiacs. To our stellar team, this one’s for you!
