“This Studios” DTLA August 2022 - My iPhone showed me a “memory” today: photos from the first days in my DTLA studio. Me, blank walls, and endless ideas.
I’ve been absent from posting for a while (April, to be exact). 2025 has been a ride, traveling, transforming, and learning to navigate the ups and downs of a neurodivergent brain with all the beauty and chaos that comes with being a creative. (Shoutout to my new ADHD coach who basically told me to just post something already, so here we are.)
As someone who creates and markets for other brands, I know how important it is to stay visible online as a maker, yet I often skip doing it for myself. This past year has been about something deeper: letting go, transforming, noticing the codependency tendencies (gay, neurodivergent, middle child… the full combo) that kept me circling the wrong people, and making space for healthier connections. And maybe the most challenging of all, learning how to truly receive and feel emotionally nourished, not from a place of scarcity and old conditioning, but from a grounded sense of enough.
And to put it out there, if you connect with my work and my journey, your support means the world. Some of the pieces that started in that little studio have grown into prints now available in my shop. Link in bio. 💙
@this.is.amit multidisciplinary creative, LA-based visual poet, illustrator, and @verygoodparts Quality Lover™. His surreal illustrations and offbeat characters explore the absurdities of modern life, blending humor, vulnerability, and cosmic curiosity across murals, merch, and meditations on being.
This video is strictly for research purposes. I had to give it a try! Join me as I prepare for a Zoom call at home on a rainy day in LA. 🤣 By the way, I really love these pants that I scored from @finery.la
A year ago around this time, I lost myself in creation. Time faded as I poured everything into a new body of work for a show titled “Wilder Flowers and Peculiar Seeds” during Frieze LA. It was a season of pure expression—digging deep, bringing ideas to life, and shaping something that felt raw and true while keeping it playful and intriguing. I’ve always measured time this way—not in months, but in bursts of inspiration, in production and creativity, in the rush of making something that didn’t exist before.
This year, I launched my website—another labor of love. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, aiming to share more than just artwork to buy, but to invite you into my world as a designer, thinker, and creator. It’s a space that’s constantly evolving, expanding with every new idea, and reflecting who I am and what I’m about. I’m continually refining it, building it out to encompass my full creative journey, shaping it into a space that mirrors both my evolution and the unique contributions I hope to bring to the world.
But art isn’t just about making—it’s about connection, a conversation, a bridge between what’s inside and what’s out there. And sometimes, when you put so much of yourself into something, you wait for the echo to reply—wondering where it will come from and what shape it will take. ✨🧡💭 link in bio 👆
“Fuck I’m Happy” is part of the series “This is a Happy Thought” and is one of the first prints I created as an artist. This piece resonates with me as its meaning deepens with my growing understanding of the connection between pursuing happiness and the struggle to maintain that feeling. Through my exploration of neuroscience and psychology, I realized that this artwork reflects our ever-changing state of being. The sentence can be read in any tone, allowing it to mirror our mental state at the moment, but ultimately, it is designed to make us smile.
It is now available at thisisamit.com or for direct purchase on Instagram.
I created two open edition sizes and one large print in a limited edition of 20:
- 40x50 cm / 16x20” - Open Edition
- 60x75 cm / 24x30” - Open Edition
- 100x125 cm / 40x50” - Limited Edition of 20
When it's up, then it's up! I've been working on this project for a while now. There's still a long way to go, but I've made the conscious decision to tame my perfectionism and just let it be live while I continue to tweak and add new features. I hope you enjoy it and find something you like—or better yet, I hope it finds you. Thisisamit.com is now live and kicking!
Yesterday was such a blast! Thank you to everyone who reached out, stopped by, and showed some love. It feels great to share my creations with all of you. Big 💙. Special thanks to @orbenuliel for the support and inspiration that helped get this little gathering off the ground.
