С танц, естетика и неонови светлини. Сцена на колела, четирима танцьори, истории за НЛО и споделени емоции - това е преживяването Future Cargo. Are you interested in theatre? Based in County Durham? Looking to develop your skills and become a professional performer? We would love you to apply.
This is a paid opportunity for you to develop your talents, collaborate on groundbreaking projects, and contribute to productions that resonate with both local and global audiences. By joining Ensemble ‘84, you will be part of a dynamic ensemble committed to creating bold new theatre for the 21st Century, which may include our next production in early Summer.
Who We’re Looking For
- Performers of all ages (must be over 18 on or around the 1st February). There is no upper age limit and we encourage those in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s 60s and beyond to apply.
- Based in County Durham - have a County Durham postcode or live within a 10 mile radius of Horden. If you are unsure, ask us before you apply.
- Be able to commit to attending from February 2026 to July 2026 for workshops, creation and performances.
You don't need previous experience to apply, just a passion for performing and willingness to undertake training, with a view to become a professional performer within a year.

This is more than a residency — it’s an exchange of stories, skills and shared histories.
Supported by the British Council, Archives of Change offers UK artists the chance to travel to Indonesia in May 2026 and host Indonesian artists in Luton later that summer. Travel, accommodation, bursaries and mentoring are included.

It wouldn’t be a highlights series without ‘Mother Courage and Her Children’! We welcomed so many of you to Horden Methodist Church in May for our debut production - a ground-breaking, international collaboration between Ensemble ‘84 and @isangoensemble .
The work of Bertolt Brecht was brought to Horden and translated by screenwriter Lee Hall (Billy Eliott, Rocketman). Our cast debuted in their first professional theatre roles and Horden Methodist Church was transformed into a theatre, housing sold-out shows for an international collaboration that garnered critical acclaim from The Guardian, The Times and The Stage.
It was very special to revisit the production later this year, with a second run in October and November at the iconic @livetheatrenewcastle .
We are incredibly proud of our cast and what they achieved - this was only just the beginning!
Thank you for joining us for ‘Mother Courage and Her Children’ and sharing these milestones with us ❤️

From paid training to rehearsals! It was incredible to witness our cast and members of @isangoensemble under the same roof for our debut production, Mother Courage and Her Children.
Our home was transformed into a living, breathing, rehearsal space, our cast members were rehearsing in their first professional theatre roles and got a glimpse of where they could be 25 years from now!
@isangoensemble formed the basis and inspiration behind Ensemble ‘84 - a theatre company rooted in its community, formed by talent in the local townships of Cape Town (South Africa). 25 years on, Isango Ensemble has reached global acclaim. The collaboration between both companies was a huge highlight for us this year and we endeavour to follow in Isango’s inspirational footsteps.
