One of the hardest parts about creating online is learning not to attach your worth to numbers.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that if something doesn’t “blow up,” it wasn’t valuable. If a post doesn’t go viral, if engagement drops, if the algorithm doesn’t reward it… Somehow, that means we failed.
But we don’t think that’s true.
Some of the most meaningful work that changed someone’s perspective, encouraged them, inspired them, or made them feel seen never had impressive analytics attached to them.
Virality is loud. Impact usually isn’t.
You can spend hours creating something thoughtful, intentional, honest, and still watch it underperform. That doesn’t erase the creativity, discipline, or heart you put into it. It doesn’t make the work less real.
The internet has a way of making creators feel disposable if they’re not constantly “winning.” But growth isn’t always public. Consistency isn’t always celebrated. And not every good thing is meant to trend.
So if your last post didn’t go viral, don’t underestimate the value it had.
Someone read it.
Someone needed it.
Someone felt a little less alone because you made it.
Don’t attach your worth to the numbers. Keep your eyes on what’s actually being added: the value, the encouragement, the small but real moments of connection that analytics will never fully capture.
That’s not nothing. That’s everything!
We read it together and broke it down into 6 of our favorite lessons learned📚
Jeff Henderson’s “Know What You’re For” is one of those books that sounds simple... until you realize how few brands (and people) actually know who they are for.
Safe to say this book was a winner and we are ready for our next book club🤝
