Music Business 101 will present a broad overview of the music business today and explain how to start as an independent entrepreneur. The online workshop will explain how various segments operate: where income is generated, how to protect yourself and your interests, and a discussion on how to be seen and heard within the changing landscape of music marketing, distribution and promotion.
Niriko McLure has spent over a decade in senior positions in the contemporary music industry, in management, label and publishing, music tech and policy and event investment; leading teams across global locations in Sydney, LA and London. Niriko has worked with Matt Corby, 5 Seconds of Summer, Gang of Youths, Dean Lewis and now represents Jarryd James, egoism, and Maddy Jane. Niriko is also the co-curator of the 2025 Bigsound Conference.
Niriko has led artist campaigns to number one albums in Australia, NZ, UK and USA, gold and platinum album and multiple platinum single sales, 3 x ARIA song of the year, triple J album of the year and Vanda and Young Song of the Year winners. Niriko’s live event experience extends to domestic and international touring from small scale club venues to stadiums, in addition to managing artist’s live performances at Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Splendour in the Grass, Groovin the Moo and Falls Festivals.
