Sally Abed exercised her âfreedom of expressionâ with a post on Nakba Day last year and she and @haifa.majority lost their place in the coalition because of it.
This May 15th is the 78th commemoration of Nakba Dayâ but the Nakba never stopped. It is the ongoing continuation of that same subjugation happening every day since.

When people are pushed to the edge, survival stops looking âlegalâ and starts looking necessary.
In the occupied West Bank, economic suffocation leaves hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with no real optionsâso they risk their lives, their freedom, and everything they have just to make a living. Desperation isnât a choice, itâs what happens when every other choice is taken away.

The electoral threshold is the minimum share of votes required in order to obtain representation in the Israeli Knesset (parliament). Votes for a party which did not pass the electoral threshold are not counted. The goal behind the 2014 amendment raising the threshold from 2% to 3.25% was to substantially weaken or exclude the three main Arab political parties, which ran separately for the Knesset, with each attaining 3 to 4 seats. In response to the new law, the Arab parties decided to run together as a single slate called the Joint List despite their political and ideological differences.

This is a snippet from a much deeper conversation around Israeli law and its application, and should not be taken as a comprehensive or definitive explanation. Like any complex legal topic, there are layers, interpretations, and ongoing public debate.
For the full conversation, we really encourage you to listen to Episode 11 featuring @adalah.legal.center Human Rights Attorney and activist Hadeel Abu Salih. Available wherever you get your podcasts!
In episode 11, we sat down with Hadeel, a Human Rights Attorney and activist for @adalah.legal.center to discuss many elements of the justice system. For Palestinian citizens of Israel, protests are notoriously met with police brutality. More recently, Jewish Israelis have been experiencing similar levels of violence from the Israeli police, specifically opposing the war with Iran. To those who continue to stand up for human rights, both in and out of the land, we thank you! The fight continues âđ˝

50 years ago today, on March 30, 1976, the Israeli government announced a plan to confiscate some 20,000 dunams of land for state purposes between the Arab villages of Deir Hanna, Sakhnin, and Arraba, as part of its strategy to Judaize the Galilee. In response, Arab towns declared a general strike and marches were organized from the Galilee to the Negev. During these protests, the Israeli military and police killed six unarmed Palestinian citizens of Israel. This is the reason for the name, âArea Sixâ that Hadeel mentions in the reel and these are their names:
Kheir Yassin
Khadijeh Shawahneh
Raja Abu Raya
Khader Khalaileh
Muhsin Taha
Raâfat Zheiri

On March 12, 2026, Israeli military prosecutors dropped all charges against five reserve soldiers accused of what is mentioned in this reel. The prosecutors said they lacked key evidence after the victim was sent back to Gaza and the conduct of senior officials had affected the chance of holding a fair trial. Israelâs prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, welcomed the decision to drop charges, saying it was âunacceptable it had taken so longâ and describing the men as âheroic warriorsâ. This is not just impunity, itâs the celebration of atrocious acts of violence. Actions are what need to change, not the protection of Israelâs so-called image. This snippet is part of a longer conversation on our podcast, Season 2, Episode 9. We encourage you to listen wherever you get your podcasts.
In 1897, two movements were born that would shape the future of Jewish life and they couldnât have disagreed more. Zionism called for a Jewish homeland in Palestine. The Bund believed in doikayt â âherenessâ â building dignity, solidarity, and liberation right where Jews already lived, on the factory floors of Eastern Europe. Same year. Same struggle. Completely different answers to the same question: what does Jewish liberation look like?
