They can be the most annoying and frustrating kids to work with and yet, thatās exactly what makes them so special. That wild, unapologetic, lazy-core attitudeā¦ the ādonāt give a f*ckā energy is what sets them apart. And maybe thatās why we love them so much.
From JoĆ£oās very first āSnapsā in Slide 3, itās been a wild ride watching him grow always bringing something unique to every wave, everywhere he goes. From the crazy sessions at Canguru, Backdoor, Sunset, Madeira, Coxos, The Cave, and Peraltaā¦ to taking the win at Parko Groms in Oz and even through the hard times with injury Iāve been lucky enough to witness it all up close. I may have missed a few key clips (especially that one wave at Coxos shoutout to
@shivagordo for capturing the moment that really put Johnny on the map), but I lived those moments like they were my own. Iām so proud of you, kid. Hereās to many more.
This Stab Edit of the Year entry with Same Same feels like another turning point in your career. I truly hope it opens doors and lets you keep doing what you love on your own terms.
To Martim I havenāt been around as much in your early days, but Iām pretty sure I caught some of your first surfing Slide 5. Keep that style, keep that wild spark this video should show the world exactly what youāre capable of.
Lastly, I just had the chance and the privilege to bring together the raw talent of surfers and filmmakers who truly love what they do. I hope everyone involved feels proud and well represented.
