Annie Nashold: Layered, intuitive, and full of discovery
Annie’s paintings unfold through memory, imagination, and expressive mark-making, creating spaces where figures, fragments, and stories quietly emerge. Rich with color, texture, mystery, and humanity, her work invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and discover their own connections within the imagery.

Friendly reminder that all of Hyperlocal’s passports are FREE, fun, co-created with local community partners, and open-source - you can download copies of all the passport zines we’ve created over the years on the website and print them at home.
Thank you to the all the organizations in Durham that have partnered with Hyperlocal over the years to develop self-guided tours and passport-style zines:
@downtowndurham - our champions ❤️ We’ve done both a @thirdfridaydurham AND a Shop Small Holiday passport with them - they often have copies of the passports at their events!
@preservationdurham - a collaborative zine that acts as companion guide to their Durham Queer History Tour - copies on their website and at events - sponsored by @dukehumanrightscenter@durhamnc - sponsored the Adventure Guide zine as part of the Love Durham campaign this year
The Original Durham Coffee Passport - fully made in-house and launched in partnership with our friends in the coffee scene back in 2023!
REMEMBER: We do not have to choose between depth and delight! We deserve things that are engaging, beautiful, rigorously researched, and accessible to all.

You’re invited to Third Friday! Our free monthly gallery receptions that celebrate our beautiful and vibrant community of artists.
Check out this work by Eric McRay, a Raleigh-based artist born and raised in Washington, DC, who uses collage to explore visual storytelling while addressing the human figure as an entity of change in theatrical narratives. These chronicles are inspired by African-American, Biblical, and art history, as well as pop culture. Yet, at the core are McRay’s familial relationships. This continuum searches for personal and universal experiences.
“A Powerful Story” features collage paintings by Eric McRay that reflect memory, identity, and place through the shared history of African Americans in the Black Diaspora and his own family’s lived experience. Through cutting, layering, and painting, McRay honors the way memories are carried, remembered, and reshaped. Figures and landscapes surface through rich textures, evoking ancestral presence, resilience, and cultural continuity across generations.
Come to Third Friday and see these amazing works in person! Free refreshments available as always ❤️

Kerry Burch draws on a recent trip to Santa Fe, where landscape and memory begin to blur. Sun-washed ochres press against deep blacks, while layered marks and dotted textures evoke both ancient surfaces and passing moments.
