We were delighted to see The Sun once again recognising Lowestoft as a great seaside destination. In its Travel section on 3 May, the paper shone a spotlight on the town’s current “glow‑up”, highlighting significant investment across the town centre and seafront, alongside improvements at nearby holiday parks. From upgraded accommodation and new family‑friendly facilities at Park Holidays Pakefield to the near‑complete Jubilee Parade Leisure Complex, the striking Eastern Edge beach huts, the refurbished East Point Pavilion and the forthcoming Post Office gallery, The Sun highlighted Lowestoft’s visible transformation through the eyes of a visitor. Add to that new rides at Pleasurewood Hills and national attention on Lowestoft as the UK’s first place to see the sunrise, and it’s easy to see why The Sun concluded that there really is a new dawn for the town - and we couldn’t agree more.

Exciting progress on the transformation of Lowestoft’s former Post Office building, with the lift core now successfully in place. This marks a key step in opening up the building for future use, improving accessibility and bringing this iconic space back into the heart of the town. It’s fantastic to see this regeneration project, delivered by East Suffolk Council, taking shape – with each milestone bringing it closer to becoming a vibrant, accessible space for everyone.

ABP has signed a major new agreement with RWE and Clarksons Port Services - and it means big things for people living and working in Lowestoft. 💙 The Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) will now be the construction support base for the Vanguard West and East offshore wind projects. To support this, ABP is also delivering a brand‑new 2,000m² warehouse, operated by Clarksons Port Services, bringing even more activity and opportunity to the port. RWE has committed to basing multiple vessels here over several years, a huge vote of confidence in Lowestoft, our port, and the talent within our local supply chain. So what does this mean for our community? ✨ More long‑term jobs ✨ New skills and training opportunities ✨ More local businesses involved in the supply chain ✨ More investment in our town and our future ✨ A stronger role for Lowestoft in powering clean, homegrown energy Once complete, the Vanguard projects will produce enough clean energy to power around 3 million UK homes, and Lowestoft will be right at the heart of it. This is another exciting step forward for our town, reinforcing Lowestoft as a key hub for clean energy and maritime innovation, and creating opportunities that local people can benefit from for years to come.

The outdoor gym on Royal Plain also features accessible equipment, making it easier for everyone to stay active by the sea. Wheelchair‑accessible beach huts are available to hire from East Suffolk Council, who also provide free beach wheelchair hire. Both can be booked at 👉 hirebeachhuts.co.uk. Accessibility along the seafront continues to improve, with a Changing Places toilet already available at East Point Pavilion. Later this summer, a new Changing Places facility, along with a lift linking the upper and lower promenade, will open as part of Jubilee Parade, East Suffolk Council’s newest seafront café and leisure complex, enhancing coastal access even further. The fountains are returning! 💧✨ East Suffolk Council have shared this timelapse of the brand‑new Royal Plain fountains being brought to life, with contractors OCMIS on site this week commissioning the system ready for Summer 2026. The previous fountains had sadly become beyond repair, and bringing them back was one of the most requested improvements from local residents. The new system filters water to the same high standards used for swimming pools, and its vibrant colour‑changing lights will create the perfect summer light show. 💦 Thanks to investment from the Towns Fund, East Suffolk Council have transformed this space with a fountain system that’s safer, more reliable and more sustainable. It also complements wider seafront regeneration, including the re-landscaped Royal Green and new leisure facilities, the transformation of South Quay Wharf into a welcoming pocket park, perfect for watching boats come and go, and the exciting new Jubilee Parade leisure complex, opening later this summer. We can’t wait to see the fountains switched back on later this week! ✨
