Did you know? Binc is the only non-profit in the country dedicated to assisting booksellers and comic shop employees in need. Binc primarily helps individual book and comic people, but also provides store assistance in relation to natural or manmade disasters. Most of our assistance goes to the people who work in and own stores. Learn more about Binc on our website. Not sure if Binc can help you? Send a confidential inquiry and a program manager will work with you. #ThinkBinc

ComicsPro is extremely proud to congratulate our Executive Director, Marco Davanzo, for being honored by BINC with the Unsung Hero Award at their 30th Anniversary Gala earlier this week! Marco’s dedication to BINC, ComicsPro, Retailers, and the entire comics industry is inspiring and very much deserving of this recognition and more. Thank you, Marco!

What an incredible night at the @thinkingbinc 30th Anniversary Gala in NYC! To say I am honored and thankful to have been part of this special event would be an understatement. BINC is an organization very dear to my heart. They do the lords work, helping out book stores, comic shops, and their staff when needed most. An organization consisting of some of the most amazing and kind individuals that I have ever met. A major highlight was getting to hang out with the great people from @madcavestudios @kodanshamanga and @tokyopop ! Congrats to my dear friend and colleague Marco Davanzo of Alakazam Comics on winning the Unsung Hero award for everything he does for @wearecomicspro ! So deserved. Marco is the best. And of course the best part of the night was hanging with @judeykalchik , one of my favorite people ever, a literal angel. Congrats to BINC on 30 years!!!! I love comics (and books)!!! 📚 💚

Getting ready for tonight's sold out Binc 30th Anniversary Gala! We're thrilled that Emma Straub, New York Times-bestselling author and co-owner of Books Are Magic, an independent bookstore in Brooklyn, NY, agreed to emcee the evening that includes a keynote address from Dominique Raccah, awards, and words of support from current and former Binc ambassadors Amor Towles and Ann Patchett. Raccah is the visionary publisher and CEO of Sourcebooks, which she founded from her home in 1987, and honorary chair of the event. The Founders Award will be presented to George Mrkonic, the founder of the Book Industry Charitable Foundation 30 years ago, and ComicsPRO executive director Marco Davanzo will receive the Unsung Hero Award for his efforts to introduce Binc to the comics industry. Pictured are members of the gala committee getting ready for the event. Thanks to HarperCollins for sharing space for event prep. If you want to celebrate along with us and support book and comic people, make a donation via the Binc website. #Binc30 #ThinkBinc

At every industry event and show, we meet book and comic people unfamiliar with Binc and how we can help. Help us spread the word! If you’re a store owner, please talk with your employees about Binc. Check out the downloadable resources on our "About us" page. Here are some key points to share about Binc: * Qualifying events include loss of household income for a number of reasons including natural or manmade disaster, housing stability, and serious medical expenses. * You and your store do not have to be a member of the American Booksellers Association (ABA) or ComicsPRO or a regional trade association to apply for assistance. * Bookstore and comic shop owners and staff can get help from Binc even if someone else from the same store has received assistance. * Assistance from Binc is confidential. * There are no fees, membership sign-up requirements, or donations required to receive assistance. YOU make a difference by helping to spread the word. Thank you! Decorative graphic, "Tell your friends about Binc!" #ThinkBinc

This morning our copy of Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Superman sold at @heritageauctions for a final sale price of $1,150,000. We have to wait for the official breakdown to be generated for an exact number but based off this number, that’s a minimum of $10k at least that will be donated each to @thinkingbinc , @heroinitiative , and @wearecomicspro based off of the agreed upon % that’s in our contract with the original owner. Congrats to the new owner of the holy grail of comic books! Up, up, and away!
