Let this be the year that third Spaces make their NYC comeback! Thank you to everyone who hammered a nail, brought us a meal, donated funds and sent their encouragement 🫶 And for all those who have been looking for an alternative space to connect in NYC, the Olio Lighthouse is open for you in 2026 🪩
Calling all goths! I invite you to join my next creative writing workshop "The Jaws of Hell: Writing the Afterlife." All levels welcome, whether you're working on your craft just want to learn something new 🖤 This is a four week class on Tuesdays @ 7:30pm, starting June 2nd.
Hell isn’t always fire and brimstone; sometimes it's an infinite library, an AI wasteland, or a hotel room with strangers. We'll examine hellish fiction, analyzing what makes these strange afterlifes so gruesome—and alluring. Genres will range: poetry, novella, short story, stage play, and visual art.
Then, you'll take inspiration from the works to write about your own demons and underworlds. Each session will include writing prompts and exercises based on the week's topic. Through mini group workshops and partner critiques, you’ll get instant feedback on your fresh ideas, helping your story take shape early on.

We've had our venue for about 6 months now and we're learning a lot.
It's great for film nights, great for parties, and our lectures, or olios as we call them, are still our bread and butter.
Obviously it's a lot of work running a small diy venue in Brooklyn, and sometimes it feels like we must have reached new levels of delusional to even be doing this at all. Then at every event we're reminded that our members are the best ppl in NYC and it really feels like we are all in this together.
Come through the Lighthouse sometime and see what it's all about.
Freud and Jung believed fairy tales weren't just entertainment, they were instructions for being human: a map of the subconscious drawn in the form of witches and wolves and forbidden doors.
In this Olio, Dina Odnopozova (PhD Yale, professor at Baruch) will explore why humans have been dreaming the same dreams for centuries.
Think Olio is an ongoing experiment in lifelong learning. We are a community of open-minded people who gather to exchange ideas with new friends and connect over art, literature, and philosophy.
Kratom drinks will be available from Misfit Kava Bar alongside our usual beverage options!
Misfit is a non-alcoholic community space in bushwick serving plant medicinal beverages that focus on the well-being of mind and body.
The last month of winter (Maybe? Possibly? Hopefully!) is gonna be packed out at the Lighthouse. Go to the site and book your flight…aka rsvp for a class 🤓🫶
