Bridge Rockaway, the Think! designed affordable housing development in Brownsville, Brooklyn is the unlikely site of a permanent art exhibition.
Showcasing the work of Brooklyn artist Harvey Wilson, the exhibition features approximately 100 works in acrylic and other media throughout the public spaces of the building, with the focus being the main lobby used by all residents. The collection has been curated by Jack Esterson, longtime friend of the artist and principal at Think!
The inclusion of original artwork in affordable housing developments is not something that is regularly accomplished. Wilson’s abstract, colorful and biomorphic work is bringing art into the spaces and lives of people who often don’t have access to it.
The exhibition was opened last week and the Think! team as well as the artist and many residents were in attendance.

The Think! Team was inspired to have @lara.earth recently speak at our office. Lara is a master builder and architect with 3 decades’ experience in masonry design, structural design and construction. A specialist in warren building, vaults and shells, her interdisciplinary work has crossed over the cultures of structural engineering, heritage preservation, historic and vernacular materials research and on-the-ground building craftsmanship.
Lara is known for her collaboration with eminent artist, and recipient of @archleague 2024 President’s Medal, #martinpuryear on “Lookout”. “Lookout” is @stormkingartcenter newest site specific commissioner and is created from@layers of red clay bricks laid using a thin-shell masonry technique inspired by traditional Nubian vaults.
Lara shared her project-based experiences with examples of traditional buildings practices from around the world. The sustainable methods at the heart of those practices provide valuable lessons which are at the heart of Think!’s effort to improve our carbon footprint through material selection and harnessing energy performance with passive strategies.
Construction is nearing completion at St John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway. Designed by Think! for @episcopalhealthservices the new Walsh Ambulatory Pavilion relocates out-patient facilities from the main hospital building, consolidates behavioral health and includes oncology, radiation oncology and endoscopy practices.
