Fresh rhubarb pie going into the oven, to be served after tonight’s PIEOWA screening in Minneapolis! Thanks, Heather Ploen, not only for making pie to share but for adding your artistic touch. If you’re coming tonight, you’re welcome to bring a pie to share. We have at least 300 people coming and we want to make sure everyone gets a good sized slice. Tickets are $10 and available online and at the door (link in comments). The pie is free.
What an unexpected treat to talk about PIEOWA with Chuck Offenburger at the Des Moines Book Festival. Chuck, who is credited with popularizing pie on @ragbrai , is a former
@dmregister columnist and features prominently in the film.
A million thanks to Home Slice Handmade Pies for surprising me at the Des Moines Book Festival by delivering my favorite pie: Dutch letter. It’s like an almond croissant in pie form. Soooo good! It made my day. 🤗🩷If you haven’t tried it, head to Home Slice in Bondurant, Iowa. (But call ahead.) @homeslicepie
Thursday May 14 at the @theriverviewtheater in #minneapolis join us for a screening of #pieowa
A Peace of My Mind will have part of our Lessons on the Road to Peace exhibit set up in the lobby. We will screen our #iamhuman portraits before the main feature and John with interview filmmaker Beth Howard of @theworldneedsmorepie after her documentary.
I remember walking with Beth along a dirt road in Arizona during the pandemic when she first floated the idea of this film. So fun to see it out in the world.
There will be popcorn. There will be pie. There will be community. Come be a part of it.

Church lady pie for lunch! It was especially fun to see so many of the people who appear in PIEOWA at the UCC lunch in Donnellson. I wanted to interview them all and ask how it feels to be famous film stars now. Instead, I just asked them to pose for a photo. Recognize them?
The American Gothic parodies never end. This “Day of the Dead” version is one I haven’t seen until today when I was gifted a dish towel. Thank you, @hesimama1967 for the thoughtful gesture.

Ooh, look what’s happening this Friday. If you’ve seen PIEOWA, this is the lunch featured in the “Church Lady Pie” segment. Now’s your chance to check this off the PIEOWA “Pie Passport” bucket list. (Here’s the link to the Pie Passport: /pieowa-passport/)
