Just a few short clips from the first video on my new YouTube Channel. There is mostly spinning on my first project of 2026, and a few life moments from a very wet and windy West of Ireland. Link to the channel is in my bio. . . . . #handspunyarn #handspunsockyarn #spinnersofinstagram #knittinginspiration #knitterslife

GLENIFF sweater pattern is now LIVE on Ravelry and you can get it with a 25% INTRODUCTORY DISCOUNT valid until 24th of August (no code needed). It is a fingering weight round yoke sweater knitted top down and it is probably up there with some of my all time favorite patterns, if I say so myself 😁 This pattern was inspired and photographed in one of my favorite places in Ireland, GLENIFF Horseshoe. I had so much fun designing and picking colours for it, and even more fun following the test knitters on their Gleniff journey. I can't wait to share all the amazing sweaters they have created in the next few days! Sample 1: BFL/Masha 4 ply from @woollentwine . This yarn is unfortunately no longer available but luckily Jule will have a very similar base (BFL/Romney) available in Autumn Sample 2: Soft Donegal Singles from @donegalyarns . . . . . #gleniffsweater #roundyokesweater #colourworksweater #sweaterpattern #ravelryknitters #ravelrypattern #ravelrypatternsale #patternrelease #colourworkknitting #knittinginstagram #woollentwine #donegaltweed #donegalyarns

FROSTBERRY sweater pattern is now LIVE on Ravelry. What a fun design it was for me, with lots of swatches and several re-knits before coming up with this final version of the pattern. And, of course, all the fun of the test knit, with so many beautiful versions of the sweater created by the talented test knitters. This sample was knit with Bauma from @xollawool , 100% wool from Ripollesa sheep. It was my first time working with this beautiful yarn, and definitely not the last. The sweater is knitted top down and in the round with DK weight yarn, and features a botanical motif of elongated stitches, simple cables and nupps / bobbles. And, while the wrong side of the stockinette is actually the right side of the sweater, you won't need to purl as much as the right and wrong sides are flipped after the yoke (for those who find purling a bit annoying). This pattern, and it's younger sibling - FROSTBERRY HAT, will both be available with a 15% introductory discount valid until Sunday, 15th of June (EOD Dublin time), no code needed.

It's all about details... STARGAZER vest test call has been posted now 😊 I really do not do 'summer' yarns, so in my mind if it's a vest and has no sleeves, even if made with 100% wool - it is meant for summer 😅 . . . . #stargazervest #colourworkknitting #strandedcolourwork

It might still be pretty cold and windy here, but the sun is shining, the sea thrift is flowering, and I have my favourite @sondeflor classic linen dress and my hand spun Inishmurray shawl to keep me warm. I've been wearing this dress so much at home, when walking the dogs or even when working in the garden, and it makes everything just that little bit more special and whimsical. . . . #mysondeflor #gifted #inishmurrayshawl #sustainablefashion

The last few weeks were very busy with all the work in the greenhouse and the garden, and some new exciting projects around the house. Very little knitting or spinning was done, and I think I really needed that break. This spring has been really weird. I had a lot of setbacks in the garden: most of my peas were eaten by mice, the first sowing of carrots was totally destroyed by slugs overnight and quite a bit of unexpected frost damage on my potatoes and dahlias (they will pull through though). But there are also quite a few wins - we have a pheasant nesting just behind the chicken coop, all the parsnips came up quite unexpectedly (I always struggle with them), self-seeded chamomile, calendula, nasturtiums and aqualigea are taking over the veg garden and my tomatoes are about to start flowering 🏵️🏵️🏵️. The garden beds still look quite empty, and it's hard to believe that they will explode with growth in the next few weeks. . . . #inmygarden #growfood #irishcountryside #ruralliving

Today is finally the day I am casting on this project with my handspun Drenthe Heath yarn. I was hoping to do it over the weekend, but the weather was so nice that I spent all the time working in the garden instead. I have decided to try and note down the time I spent on this project. And so far it's been just short of 60 hours of prepping the fleece, carding and spinning. Knitting is next 🧶☺️ . . . #useyourhandspun #hanspunyarn #knittingwithhandspun
