Instagram post size guide for the new grid update so your posts stop getting cropped!

š„ Save to action
In case you missed it, last year, Instagram updated its grid from the iconic squares to a rectangular/Portrait view.
Posts on the home feed vs. how they show up on your profile are two different sizes which has led to your images being cropped.
š home feed view: 4:5 - 1080 x 1350 (image post) or 1080 x 1920 (reels)
š profile view: 3:4 - 1012.5 x 1350
And the fun part⦠posts get uploaded as the 4:5 ratio but crop to the 3:4 ratio on your profile (causing some text/images to get cropped).
Swipe through this tutorial on how to size your graphics to avoid cropped images.
Hope this helps!

If social feels harder than it should right now, itās because the rules quietly changed...
Shocker, itās not the algorithm this time; online communitiesā consumption behaviours have shifted in a major way.
In a nutshell, hereās what Iām seeing shape 2026 and beyond:
⢠Emotional ROI is replacing impulse buying
⢠Traditional influencers are losing power to real people and real proof
⢠Over-posting is officially dunzo, depth wins
⢠The town square is dying, trust lives in niche spaces
⢠Multiple accounts are becoming the norm, not the exception
This isnāt about posting more. For the love of Pete, itās not about that.
Itās about building smarter systems that reflect how people actually behave, decide and trust in online spaces. If youāre tired of feeding platforms without a return, this is the direction forward.
What part of this are you already feeling?
//
About this space: A lot of what I share here lives at the intersection of buyer psychology, platform behaviour, and real-world strategy. Less trends, more how social media actually works. I use my signature Instasite Method, so my Instagram page is basically a mullet (but like a chic, Jacob Elordi type): Business in the front (static grid, AKA Instasite - post only once), party in the back (stories, Reels tab, comments section ā post here often).

The way people find businesses has changed at minimum three times in the last decade, and most businesses are still optimizing for era one.
We moved from Google, to the algorithm (mixed with the Googler), to AI⦠and each shift made the buying journey faster and the discovery window smaller.
The data on this is genuinely wild if you have not looked at it lately (swipe through for data)
Hereās a Snippet:
ā 46% of Gen Z prefer social over Google for search
ā 35% of millennials do too (up from 8% in 2020)
ā 55% now use AI Chat as their primary research tool
ā 37% start searches with AI instead of Google
ā 1 in 4 skipped Google entirely on their last purchase
What that means is this: AI is now recommending businesses to buyers before those buyers ever land on a social profile or a website. And the criteria for making that shortlist has nothing to do with your follower count or how often you post.
It is about your digital reputation and search score. How consistent your message is across platforms, how much indexed content exists about your expertise and how many other credible spaces your name shows up in.

[Amanda Kohal, online behaviour expert, massive bookworm and creator of the Instasite⢠method. I share deep dives into internet culture, buying behaviour and how attention moves online to drive sales]
Stop relying on Google to bring you traffic. Buying behaviour has radically shifted, and over 40% of users go straight to social media for their initial serach of a brand, business or concept.
If your content is not optimized for social search you are entirely invisible to the people actively trying to buy from you. Here is how to fix your digital architecture so your customers can actually find you.
š Treat your profile like a search engine listing. Your captions need ruthless clarity and exact industry keywords so a stranger knows what you do instantly.
š Speak your keywords out loud. Platforms transcribe your audio to rank your video, so verbally say the exact phrases your ideal client is searching for.
š Stop hashtag stuffing. Use a few highly relevant tags and focus your energy on keyword-rich captions instead.
Traffic is easy to buy, but true human attention is scarce. Start building a searchable digital storefront today (aka Instasite).
š”Are you optimizing for search or just posting and praying?

Most people misunderstand how attention actually moves online.
We are stuck treating social media like a megaphone when the reality is far more demanding. But weāre operating in a brand new social landscape, where outdated strategies go to die.
\
š« OLD WAY: The Social Graph was remarkably simple. You posted something, and the platform showed it to your followers. Growth came from building an audience, and distribution came from that audience consistently seeing your content. If you had more followers, you inherently had more reach. It was predictable.
But look at legacy creators who built massive accounts between 2012 - 2016. Today, most of them fiercely struggle to maintain even a fraction of their old engagement because their followers are no longer active, they have lost interest, or the algorithm simply does not prioritize older static accounts. That is the system most people still think they are operating in, but it is no longer how these platforms function.
\
š NEW WAY: The Interest Graph works very differently. Instead of prioritizing who follows you, platforms prioritize HOW people behave.
They are constantly measuring active signals like watch time, rewatching, pauses, comment quality and overall engagement patterns to determine what gets shown and to whom. The algorithm does not care about your follower count anymore because it solely cares about behavioural signals.
Just look at the wild comment culture on TikTok. A highly niche comment about ā365 buttonsā garnered an insane amount of views at the beginning of the year. That content reached millions despite the creator having under 5k followers because the algorithm recognized the behavioural signals and pushed it to the masses.
If your content is failing, it is usually due to a brutal mismatch between your packaging and your substance.

We all love to blame the algorithm when our content flops or our feeds get overwhelming. But what if the real algorithm is actually just human nature? š§ š±
We are living in the Information Age, constantly bombarded by data and the pressure to be everywhere at once. To cope with this chaos, our brains rely on ancient survival shortcuts known as cognitive biases. I recently read Amanda Montellās fantastic book, The Age of Magical Overthinking, which explains how these deeply ingrained psychological habits are completely short-circuiting in the digital world. It inspired me to look closer at our industry, so I wanted to share my additional thoughts on exactly how these biases dictate our behaviour on social media.
As a business owner or marketer, understanding these biases is your ultimate playbook. Itās not about manipulating your audience; itās about recognizing why we fall for toxic āhustle cultureā (Survivorship Bias), why we refuse to abandon a failing platform (Sunk Cost Fallacy), and how we build unearned trust with digital strangers (The Halo Effect).
When you understand the psychology of scrolling, you can stop subsidizing inefficiency and start building an authentic, ethical online presence.
š Swipe through to unpack the 8 cognitive biases secretly driving modern internet culture.
Which of these do you catch yourself falling for the most? Let me know in the comments! š

We do social media.
But not the kind that chases followers and likes.
Not quite an agency. Certainly not a coaching program. We sit in the middle, helping business owners and teams grow through strategy that actually sells.
We donāt care about your follower count.
Off-brand viral moments aināt it.
And weāre not here to babysit the algorithm.
Hereās what we are:
> Strategic, loud and unapologetically smart
> Obsessed with simplifying your content systems
> Built to help you sell, not burn out
> The team you bring in when you want it right from day one
Our Vision: Redefine how we teach, build and scale on social media, with real tools and real community.
We arenāt for everyone. And weāre not trying to be. Think weāre too wild? Get out of the jungle.
