The World Series is being held in Phoenix at the same time that over 8,000 Palestinian men, women, and children have been indiscriminately killed by Israel. We need to spread awareness to as many people as possible, and take advantage of the spotlight that is being brought to our city. End the genocide. Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 7 PM LOCATION TO BE ANNOUNCED WEDNESDAY MORNING. Bring signs, flags, water, and please wear a mask! Beware that counter-protestors will come and take photos of those supporting Palestine in an effort to dox us. Cover your face and stay vigilant! Progress report, Family! The needle is slowly moving in Phoenix. We’ve advocated for this resource in earnest for years (@nocap.phx ). Structural change of this magnitude is not an overnight process. While there are still undesirable aspects, I’m real enough to acknowledge this -is- progress. Literally.. the reason why CAP exists in the fashion it does.. the reason why it even got the initial $15m allocation is because of the hundreds of people showing up to city council on a semi weekly basis for a year. If you are reading this and are one of those people, give yourself a break today. You are an agent if change. This isn’t a celebration though because this isn’t over.. far from it.. the very beginning, in fact. Although it’s heakthy to acknowledge important checkpoints. CAP must eventually expand to address all victimless / non violent dispatches. This will take time, patience, vigilance, and funding. So continue to advocate in your own ways. Continue to show up when and how you can. Because you do make a difference. ❤️ Big up to the community and all the amazing mutual aid groups whose work is surely a guiding light for municipal counterparts. Tyre Nichols should be alive. May his family be enshrined in love peace, support, and strength. Policy change is the only way forward. No platitudes. No performative direct actions. Policy change is the only way. Victimless / Non violent first responder unit initiatives like @nocap.phx would see a bottleneck in police interactions with the community while providing adequate service equivalent to the type dispatch. This law would have gone into effect on September 24 and taken away our right to record police within an 8 foot distance. This is a HUGE WIN for our First Amendment rights that will allow Arizonans to continue to hold police accountable.
