Feeling like a âbad momâ? Letâs set the record straight. đ ââď¸
So many moms carry guilt because of these unrealistic myths we tell ourselves. Letâs debunk them:
⨠Myth #1: âIf I lose my patience, Iâm a bad mom.â
Truth: Losing your patience is normal. What matters is repairing and reconnecting afterward.
⨠Myth #2: âGood moms never need a break.â
Truth: You canât pour from an empty cup. Taking time for yourself isnât selfishâitâs necessary.
⨠Myth #3: âIf my child misbehaves, itâs my fault.â
Truth: Kids are learning how to regulate their emotions, and their behavior doesnât define your parenting.
⨠Myth #4: âIf I canât do it all, Iâm failing.â
Truth: Nobody can do it all! Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
Moms, letâs stop being so hard on ourselves. Youâre not a bad momâyouâre a real mom.
Let me know in the comments which of these myths resonates with you the most?
Save this post for when you need a reminder đ¤

Some kids arenât âmisbehaving.â
Theyâre overwhelmed.
And sometimes what looks like: ⢠defiance ⢠emotional outbursts ⢠shutting down ⢠rigidity ⢠avoiding demands ⢠difficulty focusing ⢠sensory meltdowns ⢠âoverreactingâ
âŚmay actually be a nervous system thatâs struggling to cope.
A lot of neurodivergent kids spend years feeling misunderstood.
They may start to believe:
âIâm too much.â
âIâm bad.â
âWhy canât I just do what everyone else can do?â
And honestly, parents often feel overwhelmed too â trying everything they can to help their child while wondering what theyâre missing.
This is where neuro-affirming therapy can make such a difference.
The goal isnât to âfixâ who a child is or force them to fit into a mold.
Itâs to better understand how their brain and nervous system work so they can feel:
â¨safer
â¨more regulated
â¨more confident
â¨more understood

So many moms I talk to feel like theyâre doing everything right⌠and still donât have the answersâfor their child or for themselves.
Thatâs exactly why Iâm so excited to share this with you đ
We just welcomed a new clinician to our team, Haley, who specializes in working with neurodivergent children qnd adults (ADHD, autism, OCD, anxiety, trauma)âusing a neuro-affirming approach that helps you better understand whatâs actually going on beneath the surface.
Because itâs not just about managing behaviors.
Itâs about helping your child:
⢠feel less overwhelmed
⢠understand their emotions
⢠build confidence in who they are
And helping you:
⢠feel more clear and grounded
⢠stop second-guessing yourself
⢠better understand your own neurotype and patterns
Haley works closely with parents so youâre not left guessingâyouâll have a clearer plan and a deeper understanding of what actually helps.
And for moms who are starting to wonder, âWait⌠could this be me too?ââshe also supports adults in making sense of their experiences, understanding how their brain works, and finally feeling more confident in it.

A lot of people think healing has to take years.
One client recently told me this:
âWhat wouldâve taken me probably five years to process in talk therapy⌠I just processed in one session.â
She showed up.
She did the brave part.
And her brain was finally able to process it.
When the nervous system has the right support, change can happen faster than people expect.
If youâve been feeling stuck in anxiety, overwhelm, or patterns that donât seem to shift, youâre not alone. Sometimes itâs not about trying harder â sometimes the brain just needs a different way to process what itâs been holding onto.
If youâre curious about approaches like EMDR or LENS neurofeedback, you can reach out to me through the link in my bio and book a private consultation call with me!
You deserve support that actually helps things move.
⨠Save this if youâve ever wondered if healing could happen fasterâ¨

If youâve found yourself wondering, âis this just a phase⌠or should I get some extra support?â
Youâre not alone.
Many parents reach out because their child has big emotions, struggles with transitions or separation, or seems easily overwhelmed â and theyâre unsure whatâs typical or when to step in.
At The Wave Effect, we work with parents and children together to better understand whatâs underneath the behavior, support healthier dynamics, and strengthen the parentâchild relationship in ways that create lasting change at home.
Child therapy doesnât mean something is âwrong.â
It can be a gentle, supportive space where children learn how to feel safe in their bodies, regulate big feelings, and build confidence â while parents feel supported too.
⨠Tina, our child therapist, is currently accepting new clients and specializes in working with children from birth through age 7.

So many people think trauma has to mean something extreme â
but trauma is really about how your nervous system experienced something, not how it looks on paper.
When memories donât get fully processed, they donât stay in the past.
They show up as:
⢠big emotional reactions
⢠feeling easily overwhelmed
⢠anxiety or panic
⢠shutdown or numbness
⢠feeling âstuckâ even when you know youâre safe
EMDR helps your brain do what it was meant to do:
âĄď¸ process memories
âĄď¸ reduce the emotional charge
âĄď¸ move experiences out of âpresent dangerâ and into the past
Itâs not about reliving everything â
itâs about helping your nervous system finally complete the process.
Healing doesnât mean forgetting.
It means remembering without reliving.
If youâre curious if EMDR can help you đđź click the link in my bio to schedule a free 15 minute intro call to learn more!
