What happens when you stop writing women as tropes… and start writing them as truth? 👀
This moment right here?
It’s about unlearning everything we’ve been told stories “should” look like—and creating from lived experience instead.
Flawed. Complex. Resilient. Real.
That’s the kind of storytelling we got into at Virtuous Con. And this is just ONE of the conversations that stayed with us.
If you missed it, don’t worry—you can still experience every powerful panel, every honest moment, every gem.
🎟️ Replay tickets are on sale through the end of March

Hey y’all!!
Remember the con I went to a few weekends ago…
…well, as a participant I was entered into a contest to win a copy of Anika Noni Rose’s children’s book, Tiana’s Perfect Plan…
…and I won!!
The panel where Princess Tiana herself read an excerpt from the book was so inspiring and affirming. Anika represents so much for this millennial prismatic Black girl, and being able to see her, hear her tell stories of her existence as a Black woman, and be affirmed that she truly knows how much she is loved.
Thank you @anikaaroundtheworld for your light! ✨ Thank you @thevirtuouscon for such an amazing event! 🥹 Can’t wait for next year!

Creating is hard.
Staying in the game is even harder.
In this powerful moment from one of our panels, we talk about rejection, resilience, and choosing to keep going even when the world tells you that you don’t belong.
Sometimes the difference between giving up and pushing forward is community — knowing you’re not the only one fighting the battle.
That’s exactly what Virtuous Con is about: creators supporting creators.
If you missed the live event, you can still experience conversations like this.
🎟 Replay tickets are available through the end of the month.

“Just try something.” - Lori Holt
During her panel at Virtuous Con, Lori Holt shared how quickly technology — especially AI — is evolving and why creators shouldn’t be afraid to experiment with it. From customizing how AI speaks to you to using it as a tool to support your work, the key takeaway was simple: stay curious and keep trying.

What is the ethical line when it comes to AI and art?” 🤔
During his panel at Virtuous Con, Aldis Hodge spoke candidly about the role of AI in creative industries and why protecting the value of artists’ original work matters now more than ever.
AI can process.
But artists create.
This conversation is one you don’t want to miss.

“I only write what I know.”
As a Black queer woman nerd, Cheyenne Ewulu didn’t try to manufacture representation, she lived it onto the page. Stephanie isn’t a trope. She’s layered, messy, real… and 90% her.
Because the best stories don’t come from trends.
They come from truth.

There is something sacred about hearing affirmation in a Black woman’s voice. 🤎
In this clip, Frank Abney shares why he chose Yvette Nicole Brown to deliver the affirmation in his short film Black Man, Black Man.
Raised by a single Black mother and surrounded by Black women, Frank wanted the voice in the film to feel like comfort. Like presence. Like guidance.
He describes her voice as representing “the voice from above… God, however you define that.” And for him, that voice felt most natural coming from a Black woman.
That intention? That reverence? That storytelling choice?
That’s what The Art of Resistance looks like.
