Anatomy of an “Alfajor” I’ve just attended a fantastic workshop “Dream Client Connection” given by Karina the creator and founder of @personalbrandarchitect (which, by the way, was fantastic!) and she made me realized that I have never talked in depth about my most beloved product: the “Alfajor”. “Alfajor” is a South American sweet treat that is made of two cookies joined together by dulce de leche in the middle and grated coconut around it. It was brought to the Americas by the Spanish during the colony time but it was a completely different kind of sweet that later on evolved to get to what we eat today. It was in the region of Rio de la Plata, that they incorporated the dulce de leche and was given a sandwich form. The word “Alfajor” comes from the Arabic language and it has two different meanings “Filling” and “Luxury”. August is about to end, then comes Oktoberfest, and afterwards the most beautiful time of the year 🎵🎶❄️🎄 My goodness, it has been an incredibly fast year! Anyway, I got sidetracked… Today I want to share with you this extra special gift I prepared for my friend’s sister’s birthday. She lives in Germany, and one of the things she misses and loves the most is… alfajores! So we teamed up: while my friend was arranging the shipment details, I prepared a special box of alfajores to surprise her on her special day. Hello hello, everyone! 🙋🏼‍♀️❗️ It’s been a while since I posted something here. I recently joined a live session with the Modern Cake Society, the amazing cake community led by @zaza . We were talking about feeling stuck and unable to move forward in our businesses—and it made me realize that I haven’t been very present here with you all. I’ve been busy working behind the scenes in the office, but I’ve also had the joy of creating a few beautiful, heartfelt cakes for my wonderful, loyal customers and friends. Today, I want to share some of those cakes with you—especially these ones, which are very close to my heart. I made them a little while ago for my hubby’s and my birthday. Besides how delicious they tasted, what made them truly special was sharing them with our friends and chosen family here in Munich, away from our actual families. We baked together this delicious pear and lavender cake🍐🪻 I must admit that at the beginning I didn't have faith in the recipe but it turned out to be a delicious light and not at all overpowering combination of ingredients. In two more days we will be celebrating Christmas 🎄✨ This month flew by even faster than the rest of the year, if that's even possible😱 I am sharing with you this Spice cake I made to celebrate the "Feria de la Chinita"with part of our Venezuelan friends. The cake is filled with spices like cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, nutmeg. Filled with cinnamon buttercream and a crunch with oats and cinnamon 😋 La Chinita is made with edible fondant. Between getting ready for winter and organizing all for Christmas in Munich, time flew by, and I couldn’t share with you the last cakes of the year. That’s why today I want to share with you, this cake I made to celebrate Carlota’s 1st Buzzday . I am a bit late posting this cute cake, but I couldn’t miss sharing this sweet moment! Her first cake was a chocolatey delight, covered in vanilla buttercream.
