I received this special award 3 months ago but wanted to let my thoughts process before posting.

The Alliance family is one that pushes its members to reach their potential and recognizes everyone who “shows up.”
*
For some, it’s showing resilience when competing. For others, it’s simply attending class 2 times/week to stay active and healthy.
*
In January of 2024, I set a goal of winning Worlds. At the non-black belt levels, you only have a small window to compete and I chose to sacrifice and dedicate myself to winning at Brown belt.
*
At times, one side of my mind was telling me to give up when: I injured my neck; others were eating delicious food or going out; I wanted to travel and explore Brazil; etc.
But I made a promise to myself and everyday I found ways to move closer to my goal no matter the adversity or temptations.
*
2024:
- Brown belt: 22 fights, 21 wins (I lost 1 by submission but no one scored a point on me otherwise)
- Brown belt: Won Brazil Nationals & Worlds; 2nd place at Pans
- Black belt: Won the annual Copa Alliance event
