Frankly ridiculous behaviour from The Conncert.
For our money, the island’s best DIY one-dayer returns to The Lodge, Co. Mayo on Saturday 15th August, with a stacked bill featuring Katie Kim, Mohammad Syfkhan, The Altered Hours, Moundabout, Caoilian Sherlock, Katie Gerardine O’Neill, Wild Rocket, Allie of Ferns and more.
A 120-year-old pub overlooking Lough Conn. Independent Irish music done very, very right.
If you’ve been, you know. If you haven’t, consider this your sign.

We’re on a mad one. A seriously strong run of new Irish music, with essential LPs and EPs from Lemoncello and Delivery Service, plus brand new Therapy Horse, Neil Brogan, CAOIMHÍN & God Knows, Really Good Time, Lemonade Shoelace, Dose and HAVVK in the mix. Link in bio 🜁
We’ve teamed up with the lovely folks at Another Love Story to give one lucky reader a pair of tickets to Love Is A Stranger: Juniper Barn, taking place from May 15th-17th in the gorgeous surrounds of Ballymote, Co. Sligo.
The travelling sister series of the IMRO Best Small Live Music Festival 2025 returns to the North West for a weekend of music, magic and long summer days spent between barns, lawns, courtyards and that lake. Friday night kicks off in serious style with a Welcome Party headlined by house and disco luminary Danilo Plessow (MCDE), with support from Sligo’s own Kevin Noone and ALS regular Andrew Kearney.
Saturday brings a stacked all-day affair with live sets from Moxie, Robocobra Quartet, Seán Mac Erlaine & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, The Leon Stax Equation and Caoi De Barra, plus a return from the Baltimore Fiddle Fair crew with Eva Carroll, Jayne Pomplass and Jimmy Clarke. DJs across the day and well into the night include Marion Hawkes, Cian Ó Cíobháin, P Disconaut, Air Ais Arís, Toast, Turn It On, Lovesmoke, Ian Lawton and Steve O Connor. Sunday closes things out by the water with a lakeside finale from Leonard Barry, courtesy once again of the Baltimore Fiddle Fair.
Add in a selection of artisan food and drink, the Wildfolk Dining Experience and the early summer haze of the Sligo countryside, and you’ve got the makings of one very special weekend.

Cable Boy’s debut album Forever moves through reverb and distortion, with guitars blurring and receding in all the right places.
Danny Kilmartin finds plenty to admire in the record’s sound, while weighing up where the band might push further.
