@spokenfest story was written with light. These images tells you exactly that. Light took us through that performance.
We had the onus to open and kickstart the main stage where likes of Gulzar and many other was to follow. We were jet-lagged and sleep deprived.
It was a previllage and a scare both to open the mehfil stage.
The evening light was our ride through the 30 minutes of absolute chaos and bliss both at once.

There’s a certain kind of Indian independent music that doesn’t try to “represent India” in a loud or performative way. It simply exists within its complexities — multilingual, restless, rooted, urban, wandering. The Tapi Project belongs firmly to that space.
Built around the songwriting and compositions of Yogendra Saniyawala, alongside Swati Minaxi, Gaurav Kapadia, and Biju Nambiar, @thetapiproject moves fluidly through indie, folk, jazz and rock without sounding like a “fusion project” assembled in a lab.

Last night was one of those evenings that reminded us why we built this room.
The Tapi Project brought something rare into The Living Room — music that didn’t ask permission to move between worlds. Folk, jazz, rock, poetry, and something that didn’t have a name. Organic, unhurried, and completely alive.
For those of you who were in the room — thank you for showing up with the kind of presence that makes an evening like this possible. You were as much a part of it as the music.
