Every good advertisement always begins with a story. And sometimes, the best stories come from real life. I was watching an interview of a Nollywood legend, sir @peteedochie and he was talking about a personal story. For New Year’s resolutions, he decided to quit drinking. That was it no drama, no exaggerations. Simple and relatable. However, when the man told his friends about his plan to stop drinking, they visited him at his place with drinks as a way of *celebrating* his abstinence. It made me stop and think because, as a creative director, I look for more than just stories. I see campaigns, brand potential, and the emotional angle that will draw viewers in. Which led me to ask: which brand fits in this moment naturally? There was only one choice: @herolager This is a brand deeply associated with eastern Nigeria. This beverage appears on every special event, even if there’s absolutely no reason to celebrate at all! As you can see, this is how I create stories for brands out of real-life happenings. This is what I do. I take real, raw, unscripted human moments and transform them into brand narratives that feel true because they are true.
