Beyond using us to look good, institutions must allow us to do good. Over the past few years, I have been reflecting on the relationship between demography and democratic design. This piece captures some of those thoughts. Is your country or community designed for its demographic reality? Please share your thoughts with me. #SystemsThinking #NationBuilding #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalGovernance #Democracy

From OAU to the World — Standing on the same ground that shaped me, I returned to remind a new generation that relevance isn’t a destination — it’s a journey of discipline, vision, and consistency. Great Ife gave me roots; purpose gave me wings. Today, I’m committed to helping young people build structures that take them from local impact to global influence. Grateful for the honour. Inspired by the energy. The future is calling — and it’s calling for leaders who are ready before they’re called. 📹: David, @ED_MEDIAHOUSE .

📣 On Wednesday 7th September, I was honored to receive the prestigious Politician of The Year Award by One Young World at the 2022 Summit in Manchester, United Kingdom. The Politician of The Year Award was curated to recognize the 5 Most Promising Politicians between the age of 18 and 35 years old from around the world who are having significant impact in their home countries and communities and have been using their position to benefit young people. I am deeply delighted to be a recipient of this year's award — I'm even more grateful being the only African awarded this year. I dedicate this feat first to my principal, the pace-setting Governor, H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for demonstrating his commitment to building a politically inclusive State by trusting me and a host of other brilliant Youths in Oyo State with this noble mandate. I also dedicate this win to the vibrant Youths of Oyo State, Youths in Nigeria working tirelessly to deliver the change we hope to see, and young people across the beautiful continent of Africa leading remarkable impact in their local communities. And to my darling wife, the one who's always rooting for me through thick and thin, my reliable powerbank and powerhouse — Thank you so much for your unflinching support and love. Truly, when we conquer our locality, we become exportable materials — Conquer Your Locality, Conquer The World! #WeAlwaysWin #OneYoungWorld #YouthInclusion

Some bonds are deeper than words… built on years of brotherhood, loyalty, and shared journeys. Having you show up for me always at my concert meant more than just presence …. it was a reminder that real ones never fade, no matter the seasons. Through every phase, you’ve been constant, and I don’t take that for granted. Thank you, my brother, for standing with me, celebrating with me, and believing in me. This journey is sweeter because you’re part of it. @theseunfakorede 📸 @dotunajayistudios

Some moments are more than memories; they are living testimonies of GOD’s faithfulness. Today, I had a beautiful moment standing on stage with my brother, my friend, my covenant partner, Babatunmise, at his annual gospel concert in Ibadan. As I watched him minister and saw the lives being touched, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far GOD has brought us. From our days as young boys at Oladipo Alayande School of Science, Oke-Bola, to becoming men walking in purpose, this journey is nothing short of grace: same roots, different paths, one faithful GOD. There is something powerful about growing with people, believing in each other, and showing up, not just in moments of struggle, but in seasons of manifestation. Supporting your friends and family is not just loyalty; it is a seed. And when GOD begins to water it, it becomes a testimony for all to see. Tonight was a reminder that GOD is still in the business of lifting men, honouring consistency, and rewarding purpose. The atmosphere was charged, the turnout was massive, and the impact was undeniable, all to the glory of the LORD. Babatunmise, you are indeed a shining light and one of Oyo State’s proud exports. Your journey inspires, your ministry blesses, and your story strengthens faith. May GOD continue to enlarge your coast. And may we all never lose the grace to celebrate those we started with. 📹: David [@ED_MEDIAHOUSE ] 👕: @LondonTailor07 👞: @T20Luxury

This observation reveals a deeper structural challenge within modern democracies. Political systems are often built around institutions that reward experience, seniority, and longevity. Yet in societies where the population is overwhelmingly young, these same systems must also accommodate the rising demand for representation from younger generations. When this balance is not carefully designed, generational tension becomes inevitable. The goal is not to replace experience with youth, nor to suppress youth in favour of experience. The goal is alignment: where ambition is guided by wisdom, and wisdom remains open to new ambition. What do you think?

🌍 In the framework of our continued work following the #16Days of Activism, we share a message from @theseunfakorede , Executive Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State (Nigeria) and Club de Madrid WYDE Member. In his intervention, Fakorede highlights the importance of inclusive governance, youth engagement and accountable institutions in addressing inequality and strengthening democratic systems. His perspective underscores the need to invest in people, expand opportunities for participation, and ensure that public leadership responds to the realities faced by communities on the ground. At Club de Madrid, we work with leaders across generations who are committed to building more inclusive, transparent and resilient societies, where rights, dignity and opportunity are at the centre of public decision-making. 🔗 Learn more about our work on democracy, inclusion and rights: https://lnkd.in/dENMqSkf 🔗 Check all the videos of the campaign: https://lnkd.in/e7VtU4sq #ClubDeMadrid #WYDE #InclusiveGovernance #YouthLeadership #Democracy #HumanRights #Accountability #GlobalPublicGoods

Whether at home or across the world, I’ve learnt this: goodness travels. It may not return from the people you gave it to, but it returns, amplified. Keep doing good, even when it isn’t reciprocated. The world is always watching, and grace never forgets where it is owed.

🇳🇦 Ethical Use of Social Media – Influencer Sundowner | Windhoek As part of the Ethical Use of Social Media Campaign in Namibia, Club de Madrid, MICT and JCI Namibia brought together nearly 100 influencers to reflect on the power and responsibility of digital influence — and how to foster safer, more inclusive online spaces. WYDE Members Laura Chinchilla Miranda (video message), Minister Emma Theofelus, Joanah Mamombe, Dr Seun Fakorede, and Yvonne Wamucii joined the mission, reinforcing our commitment to ethical, values-based digital engagement. We were also delighted to count on the presence of Miss Namibia, Johanna Swartbooi (@swartbooi.johanna @missnamibia ), who added her voice to the call for positive, truth-driven communication. The event closed with the Influencer Pledge — a collective commitment to responsible dialogue and a healthier information ecosystem in Namibia. 🔗 Webnote and livestream in our website #WYDE #WYDENetwork #EthicalDigitalEngagement #Namibia #InfluencerSundowner #DigitalSafety #WomenInPolitics #ClubDeMadrid

44 countries, cities and counting — but the real achievement has never been the stamps — it’s the people. Each travel is a reminder that the world opens its doors to those willing to show up, connect, and build. Every hug, every handshake, every conversation, every shared moment with brilliant minds from across the world reminds me that relationships are the real passport to global relevance. This journey through Namibia and South Africa reaffirmed one truth: Greatness is rarely a solo project. It is built through alliances, nurtured through trust, and sustained through partnerships. Grateful for the memories. Inspired by the connections and excited about what we continue to build together.
