The newest restaurant in town is @thesecondowl which is a Thai restaurant with a twist. You will find much more than just pad thai here.
I managed to try some items that were off the beaten Thai path such as—Kao tung na tung (curry with prawn chips), baan yaang (meat skewer sampler), sea bass larb, short rib massaman, kai palo heng (braised pork belly), kao soi duck, the Belmont (papaya salad with chicken wings), and tom kha crème brûlée.
I very much enjoyed all of the dishes and in particular, the tom kha crème brûlée was stunning. Imagine your favorite crème brûlée with the aroma of lemongrass, galangal, and lime leaf.
In brief, The Second Owl is a new restaurant in Belmont Shore, Long Beach. The food slaps and is inventive. Next time you’re looking for a new Thai experience, be sure to visit The Second Owl!
One of the newest addition to @belmontshorelb but not new to game, @owlowl_street has opened up their 2nd location on 2nd Street called @thesecondowl and they’re bringing Thai/Lao street food to the beach and I had the opportunity to try their menu, everything featured on this reel was absolutely freaking amazing!
What we ordered:
Baan Yaang: Grilled skewers of marinated chicken, pork, and filet mignon
Grilled River Prawn: Charred, smoky river prawns
Kao Tung Na Tung: Creamy coconut pork-shrimp dip with chili oil, served with crispy shrimp rice wafers
Sea Bass Larb: Cebiche-style Chilean sea bass with herbs and lime, served with rice paper crisps
Short Rib Massaman: Slow-braised beef short ribs in a rich Massaman curry, served with mashed potatoes
They also have a nice selection of alcohol in-house, this spot is definitely a spot that you need to check out asap!
Don’t let another second go by without checking out the Lao-Thai foodie paradise that is Second Owl.
