13 years ago I started work on Series 1 of Man Down with my core dream team of @jo_white_ and @juliesigny
For the Xmas special we had to do a Space Nativity so naturally we decided to cover everything in Tin foil inc Set and costume. We,the Art Dept ordered foil, lots of foil as it turns out and so much so had a few spare which we liberally dished out on wrap. I think I took home maybe 4 rolls.
Today 13 years later I’m finally on the last roll. Bravo Space Nativity. Bravo Man Down.

Newport Film School - Sept 87, tiny sidebar is that I used to quite enjoy editing - although this was made on the stop motion video camera the Animation Dept had. Nothing to do with Production Design really. I re-added the strap line in imovie. No idea where the track came from.

May 1987 - First year film, Newport Film School. A crew of a dozen made this. Yes it’s a bit clunky and yes it needs more shots but for a lot of us it was the first Drama we’d ever shot,directed,sound recorded or in my case art directed/designed. @penarthpierpavilion were amazingly helpful as were the local council. @breconmountainrailway even gave us half a dozen trips on the train for free to get the shots we needed. 40 years old next year and some of these shots feel like they were done yesterday, they are that clear in my head.

The set is pretty much the same although I no longer look after it, thankfully It continues to be modified and refreshed by other ace Designers now. Still, it’s not bad for a 21 year old design.

Off-piste post just to add voice to the tragic news about Rob Reiner and his Wife, Michele Reiner.
What an unbelievable legacy of terrific movies but for me it’s always been A Few Good Men. Beautiful to look at and pitch perfect in both performance and pace. Probably seen it close to 50 times and I know I will never not tire of it, I feel like I know this courtroom set like the back of my hand.
