The Jolly Monkey is the first Asylum movie from 2025 to hit 1k ratings on Letterboxd!
I know it’s weird to care, and most of the reviews are awful, but it’s just so cool to me that 1,000 people saw a movie I helped make and recorded it in this neat little app. Considering most Asylum movies sit at 200-500, getting into the 4-digit territory feels a little special.
Just went through some old footage on PREDATOR WASTELAND and wanted to highlight one of my favorite scenes as a director.
Having a talented cast makes my job easy. Having someone like @yaser_salamah almost makes me look like I know what I’m doing.
He was not technically the right fit for the role. The village leader should probably be twice his age. But his audition was so strong we had to take a chance. And it paid off big time. He showed a deep understanding of the character immediately, and portrayed it in a way that really made you feel his plight.
Sometimes you get lucky with casting. This was one of those times.

The team in Las Cruces was incredible. Top to bottom an incredible group.
The casts. The crew. Both movies had their trials and tribulations, but we’re going to have two solid films out of it, and it could not have happened without them.
More to come as we get closer and closer to release dates, but man. What a ride. Thank you, New Mexico.
