A huge thank you to @ucsandiego and Jennifer, Leslie, Gloria, Stacey and everyone at the Homelessness Hub who put on such an amazing event. It was also great to finally get Andrew Hening on one of our Q and A panels and get to hear him speak about the film and its themes. Can’t wait as we’re building toward a major release of the film. Big news coming soon! @baio.cchia @__skylerhenry__ @storylitfilms @brightcoastproductions #campresolution #therighttoexist #testscreenings #impactscreenings #homelessnessdocumentary

A big thank you to Professor Sally Rubin and @chapmanu for hosting a recent screening of The Right to Exist. It was so amazing to return to my Alma matter and share my first feature documentary with young aspiring filmmakers. It was especially meaningful to engage with students on the filmmaking process, and hear about the impact of the characters and story for students not as familiar with the subject matter. The questions and conversation reinforced how storytelling itself can prompt conversations and challenge our assumptions. We’re excited to continue building momentum on college campuses and expanding these conversations nationwide. More updates on that soon. #TheRightToExist #ChapmanUniversity #DocumentaryFilm #FilmStudents #academicscreenings

MUTUAL AID + COMMUNITY FEED +   FILM SCREENING 🎬 ‼️ Join us for a meal, mutual aid, community, &  a film screening of ‘The Right to Exist’ — a documentary about Camp Resolution and the ongoing housing crisis here in Sacramento.  Mutual aid is especially needed right now. Recent sweeps, harsh weather conditions, and increased enforcement continue to put our unhoused neighbors in danger. This gathering is a space to share resources, learn, and support one another in community. Most importantly create a safe space for us to be and eat, rest, and exist without fear in Del Paso Heights (the hood that camp resolution started from)  ✨️We are collecting donations: • non-perishable food • clothing (socks, shoes, rain gear, coats, & plus size men’s & women’s sizes in need) • hygiene supplies • survival gear (tents, tarps, blankets, sleeping bags, backpacks) & any helpful community resources (zines, legal services, ect.) If you plan to bring donations please arrive at 4:00 PM so we can organize before the event begins. Drop offs are more than welcome!  DM on IG @samuelslewis_  for details. 🗓 Saturday, Feb 28, 2026 🕔 5:00–8:00 PM 📍 Robertson Community Center 3525 Norwood Ave, Sacramento For more information or questions please contact: [email protected] ✊🏿✊🏼✊🏽Everyone is welcome - Unhoused,  Housed & Poor Peoples Alike. Bring a friend! #SacramentoEvents #CommunityCare #MutualAid #HousingIsAHumanRight

We’re grateful for the powerful screenings of The Right to Exist at Sigma Art Studio in Sacramento and Chico State. Audiences responded with urgency and deep engagement, especially during conversations with members of Camp Resolution. The reactions in Chico, and in other cities, make it clear this story is bigger than Sacramento. Communities across the state are recognizing the stakes and asking how to get involved. A growing coalition of students, longtime residents, and housing advocates are rallying around housing justice through this film. If you know a college, church, or organization that would like to host a screening, please reach out to [email protected]. #TheRightToExist #Sacramento #ChicoState #HousingJustice #unhousedvoices @brightcoastproductions

Camp Resolution leader Sharon Jones was recently quoted in a new @capradio article examining this year’s Point-in-Time count in Sacramento County. Her perspective adds critical context to how homelessness is measured, understood, and experienced by the people living it every day. Sharon’s voice, and others like hers, are central to The Right to Exist, which documents not just the numbers behind the crisis, but the human realities those numbers represent. We encourage folks to read the article and continue learning about the complexities behind homelessness data and policy. #TheRightToExist #CampResolution #Sacramento #UnhousedVoices #pointintimecount2026

Director Nick Anderson and producer/subject-matter expert Arturo Baiocchi joined Gabe and PJ from @cityoftea916 to talk about The Right to Exist and Sacramento’s housing crisis. They discussed how Camp Resolution, a self-governed, woman-led encampment, challenged City Hall, why empathy must be part of policy, and how storytelling can drive change. Thanks to City of Tea for highlighting the people and movements shaping Sacramento’s future. Listen to the episode wherever you get your podcasts and join the conversation about housing justice. /show/6npapoQEOmkvXXsVabvWlf?si=Z9iuXBA6TiuhYykxkrdUXA #TheRightToExist #CityOfTea916 #Sacramento #HousingJustice #CampResolution #UnhousedVoices #RightToHousing #EndHomelessness #SacramentoStories #DocumentaryFilm #CommunityConversation #HousingCrisis

The power of The Right to Exist comes alive when those who lived it share their stories. At our recent private test screening, Camp Resolution leaders Sharon Jones and Satearah Murphy joined subject matter expert and co-producer Arturo Baiocchi and director Nick Anderson for a post-film discussion. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, audiences are connecting deeply and leaving ready to talk about real solutions. That conversation is the goal of this film: to spark dialogue, shift perceptions, and inspire action for housing justice. In the middle of Sacramento’s housing crisis, a group of unhoused women turned an abandoned city lot into a self-governed community. Sharon Jones, one of the founders, reminds us that this was never about politics—it was about people caring for each other when no one else would. The Right to Exist tells their story and the fight for dignity, safety, and a place to call home. Camp Resolution isn’t just a shelter—it’s a community. Susan Alhaqq says it best: ‘Camp Res is the place.’ In Sacramento, where rents have skyrocketed and thousands sleep outside, camp residents built safety and dignity for themselves.
