Playing as Bart, the time traveling merchant from Texas who runs the Barter Booth along with his partner, Berta (played by @elenaodessaray ).
Bart got trapped in a time loop in Woodstock after Berta accidentally closed the portal without him in her haste to get away from the hippies.
Hey has never let her forget it.
To her horror, Bart now has an identity crisis where he doesn't know if he is a redneck or one of the very hippies she fears.

House movements, relationship sagas, new ventures started, passions discovered, friends made, legal battles fought, gratitude realised, insecurities heightened, confidence developed, stress created and dissipated, success, failure, acceptance and rejection.
Life is lifing hard and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think it is about time I post about the wild ride that was Afrikaburn this year.
This has been 2 years in the making and counting. Since we founded the 8th Day of Creation project back in September 2023, a lot has happened. A river of blood, sweat and tears has gone into this project and the results have been beyond breathtaking. From shaky starts plagued by uncertainty, cultural and spiritual tensions, sickness, physical and emotional breakdowns and so many more challenges, we managed to survive Afrikaburn 2024 and create something beautiful.
Now, a year later, after 9 months of prep, many weekends of prefabrication and 10 solid days of build in the desert (where little sleep was had) we have created, not only a beautiful structure that was enjoyed by many, but an amazing community and team that will live on long after the structure is gone. for now, it is still breathing softly out there in the desert, waiting to be taken by the flames and wind.
We don't know what the future of 8DoC will look like, but we have some ideas.
One things for sure, 2026 will be as wild if not more so then this year and I'm excited (and a little scared 😅) to see what unfolds.
Thank you to the whole team of amazing artists, performers, builders, cooks, technical wizards and supporters for continuing to make these dreams a reality.

This scene was such fun to play. I feel so blessed to have opened Stages Through The Ages with this number from @jayherrans Epic the musical, playing the role of Odysseus just before his final battle in Troy before sailing home to his kingdom of Itheca. I have become completely obsessed with Epic since being asked to perform this song and can't wait for a full musical production =) I'll be first in the audition line!

There has not been much time to properly digest the whirlwind ride that has been the past few weeks with @capetowntheatrecompany , but I’ll try to put it into words as eloquently as we graced that stage just two days ago.
As a newcomer to the theatre world in Cape Town, I could not have asked for a more welcoming, fun-loving, talented, and inspiring team to work with. The voices, movements, accents, facial expressions, and spontaneous comments all left me in a constant state of awe, and I loved every minute of my time spent on Stages Through The Ages (almost 😉).
Despite feeling exhausted, I found myself never wanting to go home at the end of the night. Instead, I chose to ‘loiter’ and ‘banter’ with this newfound family until eventually the last cigarette was smoked and fatigue got the better of us.
What really made it for me, more so than the performance itself, were all the little moments in between. Trying not to laugh out loud when someone (not gonna say it was me) hit their head against the wall while trying to spy through the tiny holes in the backstage curtain, the subtle smiles and slaps on the shoulder that said, “Yeah, we nailed that,” the tight embrace and reassurance that we had each other’s backs when something went wrong, and, when faced with a possible crisis, seeing everyone instantly start making a plan to fill the gaps.
It has been a wonderful ride indeed, and I am looking forward to more shenanigans very soon!

Ricky is an event producer and experience designer who wears many hats in the entertainment and performance industry. He has excelled as a logistical wizard, director, producer, MC, dancer, musician, clown, and, finally, actor. He discovered his passion for the performing arts later in life, making his stage debut last year in a community theatre production of Into The Woods in Portugal.
Ricky is captivating audiences as both the Rebel and the Hero, bringing a dynamic energy to his roles. Since 2020, he has produced five interactive and personalized online theatre experiences and has participated in notable events such as Boomtown (UK), Afrikaburn (RSA), Somewhere (PT), and the World Experience Summit (UK). Additionally, Ricky hosts improv theatre jams every Sunday in Cape Town.
