Cat Mama, I May Destroy You • what do you do when your song gets featured on a show that is pulling you apart and putting you back together? What do you do when a song you worked on during some of the most painful parts of your life suddenly is also the catalyst for so much good in your life? • I honestly don’t even know what to say, 2020 has been many things for me, but this? This right here? Fuck. It feels good. I produced this song MYSELF, mixed and mastered it MYSELF, it almost didn’t get put out, now look! It’s made it onto the soundtrack of a show that means so much to me right now • huge thank you to #MichaelaCoel and her team, music supervisor of #IMayDestroyYou Ciara Elwis • Catch the “Bornday Intro” from my BORNDAY EP on Episode 7 of #IMayDestroyYou playing softly as Terry and Kwame talk in the tub • my dreams are real, everyday. • I love you 💚 (special shoutout to @ladyjaylives for making the connection between us all) 💚

it is an honor for my debut live album, “Remember” to be ranked number 1 on @thenativemag best R&B projects of 2022. ——- life is wild man. there is so much that got in the way of this release. multiple losses. not enough time to recoup…. I almost didn’t see the value in chasing my dreams anymore. I was scared. we’ve been here several times though. allowed fear to be the little death bringing total obliteration. but once you’ve faced the end of your world multiple times, eventually… you’ll have to permit the fear to pass over and through you. face it. in the ways your gifts will allow. “remember” is proof that fear will never get in my way again. because I have: @niiquayemuses , my music director, who never stops pushing me to be the very best, who sees me even in the darkest of times, and reminds me to use my gift as my strength. @musicallunatics and my kitten bv’s who allow me to realize the soundscapes in my mind. @waltervinyl | @wavesbakery who was there to make sure we have a timeless body of work. @tronomie_ and @thestubaccra_ family and their dedication to making sure we got exactly what we needed to achieve the sound we were chasing. @tneeya , @kojo_cue , @_aleegh & @1realjoeyb . who all came through for me without hesitating. their support and love can be felt in their verses. I’m eternally thankful. @edwvn , @super_ficial , @obedworld , @cozyshrt & J. grooves, sonic wizards that I’m privileged to know and love. their production towards this album make up some of the most played songs. @naki.narh and her ability to realize the vision of remember painted in my mind. @joewackle , @pamm.ms , @ellaokunmwendia , @yung_mission , @iamelikem and the unwavering support of @africori . this is for all of us! my kittens! this powerful community of mine got me to be able to let fear pass through me and achieve this incredible honor. if you’re new here, welcome to cat mama world darlin’. we only just getting started. number one.

Taking it back to that time at @songsinconversation when Hajia Kitty brought the bars out. This is my own spin of Jayo’s “22” (that instrumental too damn good). I call this one “Batter”. It’s a petty anthem and if you want to know the gist, you’ll have to go to my YouTube to hear it 👀 link in bio. —— MUSICIANS Background vocalists (The Kittens) - Mona Adzraku, Kelly Mawuli, Nii Adjiri Isaac Drummer - Eugene Addison Music director and Guitarist - Emmanuel NiiQuaye Aryee SINC TEAM Producer: David-Clay Onah Videographer/Editor: Joshua “Menzy” Mensah Audio Engineer: Samuel ‘Qube’ Quarshie BTS: Henry Nyamekye, Selorm Jesse Ababio Photographer: Abdul-razak Arafat, Kelvin Acolatse SINC Team: Kwame Owusu Ansah, Timothy and Thomas, Selase Nkrow Space: Dawadawa Executive Producer: David- Clay and Esther Claire Ama Onah

How do you write music that succinctly captures where you’re from, who you are & how you became who you are? @theriaboss leads fellows through the “Casting Spells” workshop, guiding their storytelling & songwriting process #blackgirlsglow #koshkaksi26

Over the last three months I have learned so much about loss, grief, love and heartbreak through the stories and submissions of many of you who opened up to me in the most beautiful of ways. I thank you for this. These submissions have given way to songwriting, poetry, to the beginnings of a visual language and to an opportunity to grow a deeper understanding of the burdens we all carry with us in our everyday. As my residency comes to an end, I would love to invite you to come and experience the Heartbreak Hotel works in progress at my Open Studio. Here, you will be able to get glimpses of the living archive, a cross section of the poetry/illustrations and also be able to sit in a listening station to hear some of the songs you all inspired. This process is far from over, I’m looking forward to continuing this development in my home of Accra, but I welcome you all here in Paris to come and engage with the process and my methodologies so far. See you tomorrow. Door opens at 19:00.

A quiet update from Paris. I began my residency at Cité Internationale des Arts in January, supported by Institut Francais and the French Embassy, to research and further develop an interdisciplinary project very dear to me. This project - Heartbreak Hotel, explores how experiences of heartbreak and loss ultimately shape identity, love and survival. This work will become an album, an exhibition and a live show all inspired by stories I gather. A lot of my project involves voluntary participation and so I ask, that if any of you feel called to contribute a reflection or a note, you’re welcome to do so. Responses can be anonymous and will be treated with the utmost care. The hotel is open: link in my bio. Thank you, and wherever you are in the world, sending you some love. @franceghana @if_officiel @citedesartsparis
