As a little girl going easter dress shopping every year with my granny was a joy.
She was going to have us dressed to impress! The only rightful place to go was our beloved 20Th St. a strip where my curiosity & excitement was more than encouraged it was nurtured & grew with every visit. We stopped dress shopping once I grew out of the tulle, kitten heels , and simply because we didn’t have the time like we used to. We mightn’t have gotten to share the experience of shopping for a Quinceañera, or a prom dress and she won’t be with me physically to shop for my wedding dress in the future but she was definitely there with us for this shoot. Thank you Kai for helping me heal a part of my heart and for bringing that same excitement back for that experience when the time comes! This shoot helped celebrate not just mine but womanhood, honored my lovely granny, and gave me so much peace. I love you Kai! There wasn’t much explaining needed for you to capture these shots. You are incredibly gifted my girl. Thank you God & Thank you granny.

i grew up going to 20th street to get dresses, school uniforms, and shoes so being back there for a shoot, lowkey healed something in my inner child. everybody has that place in their hometown, that one strip, that one block, where your memories live, and this one was mine. thank you tate for this full circle moment 🤍
