Well it's been about a year since me and Emily first started talking about wanting to get a pet and after the wedding we figured it would be the best time. We adopted Princess right after the honeymoon from a shelter in Tempe. It's been a few days getting her acclimated to her new environment. She is an angel and a diva and we love her. She doesn't like to leave our sides, even though she's a very curious kitty and loves to explore (so long as we're close by). I don't post often and honestly forgot to post anything about the amazing wedding or honeymoon we had, but I figured a new family member deserves a post. Welcome home baby girl!
Had an amazing weekend up in Show Low these last few days. Got to attend the Show Low film festival representing A Forest Dark with our director Casey, production designer Avery and the beautiful love of my life and editor Emily. Show Low film festival was super fun and I would absolutely recommend it to any filmmakers in AZ. A Forest Dark played very well and even walked away from the festival with two awards, one for editing and one for best drama. I could not be prouder. The cast and crew did a fantastic job. Me and Casey are looking to start another go fund me soon to cover more festivals, so keep an eye out for that. AFD is also playing this Saturday at Mesa Film Festival as well, and I look forward to going there.
Show low Film festival wasn't the only thing that made this weekend great. In between the many shorts I got to see at the feedback, I also got to visit with family and make new friends.
And then the icing on the cake, I got accepted into the APA, which just added to an already amazing weekend. I am now listed as a director and a producer on azproductions.com. I am sorry excited for this and looking forward to everything else God has in store. Thank you again to everyone that helped make this weekend happen.
Have you ever been in a situation where someone tries to claim your success as they're doing? An organization, a job, a school, friends or family? They say that they put you there. You are their doing. You represented them and did well, so now they will do well in the future. But, where were these people that are so quick to claim your success as part of their story, when you are at your lowest moments? Did they share your failures too? Would they be proud to be with you in those moments, or do they hide there faces from you? And when they succeeded, when they were at their highest points, did they invite you in? Did they offer to share the glory with you? All too often, people will rush to try and steal other people's accolades, In order to make themselves look better. They claimed ownership over your story. But the moment you no longer have anything to offer to them, The moment your successes are no longer profitable to them, they leave. They ignore you, they drop you, they no longer care for you at all. A true friend, a true leader, a true organization, a true mission, these will share the successes equally and the failures just as equally. Win together, lose together. No blame, no cheating, no stealing. Find yourself people like this. No one can share in your success unless they are willing to share in your failure! You are the one that is writing your story. No one else can claim to have made you who you are. You chose this life, and you choose to live it well. No one has ownership over your life, your successes are yours and only yours.
One month to go until @aforestdark.film gets to screen @showlowfilmfestival . October 20-22. Super excited and proud of this film. Thanks again to everyone involved.
PS to the cast and crew and they're families to PM for discounted tickets
Well this is long overdue, but I guess I should probably get it out of the way. A select few of you know that I recently got an internship with the chosen TV show for season 4. If you didn't know, now you do. This was an amazing experience. I drove up to Utah 2 months ago, stayed there for 42 days, then drove back. This was simply one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Getting to be on a real professional set is truly The best thing any filmmaker can ever do.
I got to meet so many people, and make so many friends. It was so nice being on crafty, getting to interact with more people on the set than anyone else. Getting to know what the cast and crew liked and doing little things each day to brighten up the set and help people get through. This was so much fun and I cannot believe I got to go. Thank you to the other interns and all my other friends that I got to meet. And thank you God for this experience. There really wasn't anything I could have done to get on this set, and this will be one of my best memories for a long time.
PS. I hate pictures of myself, so I try not to use as many as I could. I kept some of them, like our group picture with the actors (There was a bunch of them that were doing their scene or in their trailer or just weren't there that day, so we didn't get everyone, but most). Just know if I look stupid or dumb in the picture, that I acknowledge that :-)
Also PS, I couldn't tag everyone in the picture. Sorry. I'm going to comment on what each of the pictures are afterwards.
As I was driving out to Utah, 42 days ago, I got to watch the sun rise. Today the sun was setting when I got home. It was an amazing time and I made so many new friends and memories, and worked my butt off. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything... But damn it's good to be finally home!
PS, I'll have a big post later this week about the internship and how good it was. But that will have to wait...
Finally got my website up and running. Huge thank you @goldenaeroo for helping to design it, @emily.cinemawriters for helping with the logo and @fire_x_fury_cosplays for helping with creating business cards for it(I'll pay those when they came in). Super excited about this, thank you guys
