Tuesday was historic. 350,000 Jews showed up in Washington DC to show support for Israel in their devastating war against the terrorist organization, Hamas; and to condemn the explosion of anti-Jew violence, rhetoric , and graffiti since the largest mass slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust.
It was healing and empowering to be in community with my Jewish brothers and sisters, and to be a part of a peaceful rally. No signs or screaming words of hate against the Palestinian people. We, instead, recognized the terrible suffering of the innocent Palestinians.
Members of Congress expressed their complete support of Israel’s right and duty to dismantle Hamas, which would make a long wished for peace, possible.
We prayed for Hamas to release the hostages, which would result in an immediate cease fire.
We sang the Israeli national anthem, Hatikvah, which means Hope.
Thank you to every single person who made yesterday so very beautiful. And to those stranded at airports and bus depots because jew hating bus drivers refused to drive them to the rally, you were with us.

Sometimes you just have to run away.
I have been open about the struggles I’ve had, like all of you, with the hate and violence seen across the globe. Feeling impotent. Heartbroken. Enraged. Overwhelmed. And, the feeling that the city I love is on fire had left me despondent.
I realized I needed to reset. The majesty of Nature is always the answer for me. So, I went to Iceland. Alone. And it was transformational. I knew seeing the Northern Lights would wake me up and remind me of the the Awesomeness of the Universe. The vast unknowable Design. And It brought me back to life.
I landed in Reykjavik, the only city on the island, grabbed a map and the most delicious cup of coffee of my life and walked. I came upon the Rainbow street-the entire road was painted in rainbow with cafes, Icelandic sweater shops, pottery and jewelry studios lining the street. Visited a beautiful church, and got ready for my Northern Lights night hunt . I was picked up by my tour guide Svenni, who looked like a Viking, and we head out into the night, guided by an app that showed weather conditions, we drove for 2 hours and then we ended up on a cliff by a lighthouse. And the sky exploded in green streaks. It was indescribable. The lights move like clouds. PS I’ve never been so cold in my life. The wind was 60 mph and it was 38 degrees. We warmed up in the truck with hot tea and I went to sleep amazed at our luck.
The adventures were thrilling. I went inside a glacier. It took an hour and a half in a military bus to get us up the side of the glacier. I felt like I was on another planet.
I went ATVing on a black sand beach ( lava from an eruption) next to the wild sea and rode through a rock river that winded through mountains.
60% of all tomatoes come from one greenhouse, so we toured, and then had the most incredible tomato soup and a fresh bread for lunch.
Waterfalls were everywhere, I mean everywhere, from the melting glaciers, and they were gorgeous.

Today is the anniversary of my mom’s passing.
It always feels like there is a hole in my heart, and the sadness is familiar.
Today is also Passover.
It has always been my family’s favorite holiday.
It is a celebration of the Jews’ escape from slavery in Egypt, and the long exodus back home to Jerusalem. It is a holiday that celebrates freedom over oppression & persecution. It is a celebration of the return to our ancestral homeland after years in exile, but never without hope and faith.
We gather not only to commemorate this particular event, but every single time over 3000 years that we have been banished, persecuted, murdered, burned alive, by people who refused to acknowledge our humanity and peoplehood, who blamed us for every ill in the world—- and, each time, with resilience and light, we survived. And moving forward, thrived.
This has happened continually, through every human advancement, the ancient hate and attempted erasure of our People. That is why every Passover Seder ends with the final words of the Hagaddah prayer book, with us reading —“Next year in Jerusalem.”
Because for 3000 years we never stopped fighting to return home to Jerusalem. Whether we were enslaved in Egypt, or as a non citizen dimmi facing yet another pogrum.
Today is particularly painful. To see history repeating itself, the demonization, the dehumanization, the thirst for Jewish blood.
May we all pray for all the innocent civilians in this horrendous war. May this year see the Iranian people freed from their decades long struggle against oppression, torture, murder, stripping of human rights for all women and people not afraid to love who they love. Even in the face of death.
May the US soldiers be kept safe as they bravely fight alongside the IDF to finally bring peace to the entire Middle East.
Like Pharoah, may the IRGC, become just a footnote in history.
What a celebration that will be. BH.
Happy Passover from Elsie and me.
She is helping me make my mother’s Charoset.
And yes, it is the best in the world.
All my love, D
PS ✡️✡️✡️✡️ if you want to celebrate I put a LINK in bio for “Saturday Shabbat 2021” the fun celebrity Seder we did during COVID.
You might recognise our LIFE Magazine cover star as the witty and stylish Grace Adler from the hit American sitcom Will & Grace. But @therealdebramessing is also known for playing a leading role in Jewish advocacy.
Speaking to Brigit Grant, Messing opened up about her evolving identity, telling Jewish News, “I was fortifying a new boldness, a new acceptance of who I am. And for the first time in my entire life, being openly proud and protective”.

There’s a narrative circulating that Israel dragged the United States into war with Iran, that this is Israel’s war. That claim is not just wrong, it completely misunderands what the entire conflict is all about. Let me explain.
For decades, every American president, Republican and Democrat, has said the exact same thing, The Islamic regime in Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. And yet Iran continued enriching uranium while simultaneously building one of the largest ballistic missile arsenals in the region.
So you have to ask a simple question, Why would an oil-rich country need both highly enriched uranium and long-range ballistic missile systems capable of delivering warheads across continents? Those two programs together tell you exactly what the regime has been preparing for.
During recent negotiations, Iran acknowledged that it had enough enriched uranium for eleven nuclear bombs. At the same time, it refused to dismantle its enrichment program and continued expanding its missile and drone capabilities. In other words, Iran was not backing down.
Over the past few years, Iran has embedded itself deeply into China’s strategic architecture. Iran became China’s backdoor to the Middle East. China now buys the vast majority of Iran’s oil exports, effectively keeping the regime alive.
In return, Iran has become a strategic foothold for Chinese power projection, positioned at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important energy checkpoints in the world.
What we’re witnessing here is something much larger, an emerging alliance between authoritarian powers and Islamist regimes that share a common goal of weakening the Western world order. Some people call it the Red Green alliance.
This is about the West. This is about the United States, Europe, Israel, places that are not perfect but are built on democratic values and basic human rights versus regimes that openly reject those principles.
This conflict did not start because of Israel. It started because the Islamic Republic of Iran decided to threaten the US, the Gulf States, Israel, the entire Middle East, and the rest of the free world.
Today is my beautiful Mom’s heavenly birthday.
I miss her everyday.
Today is hard.
The sadness never wanes.
I look at old pictures of us and realize I laughed the hardest with her. I’ve never laughed that hard since.
I laugh. I love to laugh. It’s medicine. But seeing that one woman who made me laughed the hardest makes me realize that she was pure Magic.
I didn’t recognize it while she was here.
That’s something that is painful to acknowledge and accept..
My relationship with her is different now, but just as powerful. I talk to her constantly. I feel her with me. My love for her is still physical. That is a gift.
Happy Birthday Mom.
You are and will forever be Everything.
Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!
Kissing is one of my all time favorite things to do.
One of the greatest things about W&G is we kissed CONSTANTLY. I honestly couldn’t even begin to guess how many potential boyfriends Grace kissed but it was A LOT.
The cast, the guest stars, everybody got to kiss! So in honor of ❤️ Day, here’s a mash up of just the tip of the iceberg.
Go out and kiss somebody!đź’•đź’•đź’•đź’•đź’•
