An open letter to Coach Drake. It’s taken me awhile to process but I know I have to face reality. How do I express the gravity of your loss. When a man is responsible for the very foundation of my character. I’m simply an imitation and extension of who you made me. Branded in my consciousness like a an uploaded program. A example of what it means to be a man. Teaching by words and actions an example of what it means to be righteous and prideful. You taught me how to stand tall and not compromise my morals. You cut the field with a push lawn mower symbolically teaching me not to wait to do what anybody can do but refuse to do. Showing me the harsh reality that no one was coming to save me. Teaching me that a rose can grow out of a crack in the concrete or the jungle. A man of integrity conviction. You told me that adversity doesn’t define character it reveals it. You forever changed my life and help me achieve my dream. I’m forever indebted to you it’s a part of my heart that will never heal. The deeper the love the more painful the hurt. I know you are in heaven saying Ni**a get up look up I’m always here and make me proud. I love you and will miss you Coach Drake.
