THANK THEM for staying by you these many, never-boring years - noting the JOY + MAGIC they brought & bring.
REMIND THEM how strong, and important they are to you…and how they kept you living IN the moment.
TELL THEM ALOUD, again, the story about how they saved you when you thought you were finishing your own time in this life, but how them laying right next to you every second before and after brain surgery gave you ALL the healing strength.
PATIENTLY HOLD THEM up when they are trying to eat but their legs are too tired to stand. Remind them that they carried YOU plenty of times.
EXPLAIN TO THEM that your life has been Brighter & Wider in great part because of their Teaching.
LET THEM KNOW your bond is eternal…and you will hear them when they are ready, and they can climb right into the same arms that rescued them years ago, to gently FLY away.
SHARE WITH THEM that by merely existing in your world, they inspired THOUSANDS & THOUSANDS of dogs to be SAVED in their honor.
REASSURE THEM that NEVER is the time you will say Goodbye…that it will only be: “I’ll look for you every day…and you WAIT, I’ll find you when I fly home TOO.”

WHERE HAVE YOU BEAN MY WHOLE LIFE? This handsome senior, Garbanzo Bean, is a jovial guy. He was abandoned in someone’s yard and went to the shelter to see if anyone claimed him, and when no one did, we scooped him out. Bean is about 8, and was in tough shape when first pulled, but after nurturing time in foster, and a full set of denture removal, and a crew cut to restart his curls, this kid is so dang happy and great with other dogs. Love walks, loves cuddles, loves Love. Bean’s foster, Aubrey and family, have kids and another pup that Bean adored…and now, the time is here, and this lil adorable Poodle mix is ready to find his family.

WE ALL KNOW what is going on with our shelters. Beyond capacity - so when we can stop a kid from being dropped off there we will. This handsome, young, SWEET boy, Frito L.A., was headed there with a very nice woman who had to give him up because of landlord, and work issues. Frito lived with this kind woman and her three children, and they LOVED him but could no longer house him, so instead of going in the shelter, he went to our vet, got a check up, a groom, and a NEW direction. Frito is gonna light up someone’s world. This 2.5 year old good scruffy guy is leggy, 17lbs, and looks like a Movie Dog. DM us to meet this charming, shy fellow, who we know is missing the children he was in love with.
Frito L.A. will lift your every day. Big ups to Mindy, Chela, Carla & Team, and his former family that just want him to be adored by a new fam.

I smile - skip past struggle, or deep detail on the daily upkeep of having one remaining visitor in my brain - and get right to truth:
“You know, I’m about 80% to 85% of WHO I WAS before…
….But I’m 100% of WHO I AM Today.”
So, my wish for you, friend, is that in this New Year, you’ll allow yourself to feel 100% of who you are. Right Now. As Is.

🚨REJECTED. YES, these poor pups - more victims of overpopulation via no spay/neuter enforcement - were TURNED AWAY from two shelters they were brought into. No space, no accommodations for pups, and they would “die there anyway” was one reply they got.
Thanks to some quick hands + heads they made their way into LA and two a vet. ONE IS POSITIVE for Parvo so BOTH are being treated IN ISO.
Sad reminder of what DID NOT GET BETTER in 2025.
We have a year-end fundraiser up for exactly this kind of Rescue because vetting is insanely expensive. If you are interested and able to send a few dollars donation to it, that would be most welcome and appreciated.
Kudos to Connie, Clinton & Joey for advocating for these little babies to even have a CHANCE at Life.

UPDATE: THE GIFT. DOVE. Do you remember this BLIND & DEAF emaciated kid that was dropped at the shelter and curled up in a ball shaking and terrified? For any animal, the shelter is the fear of the unknown. The cold, echoing vibration and smell, often, of the end. And for this poor soul it was more frightening…and he needed out STAT. We pulled Dove knowing there was no surgery to reverse his lost senses, but with a commitment to find him a Life of Love.
Well, the stars were shining in his favor upon meeting the loveliest, most thoughtful family that agreed to foster. And as the audience is small for a special needs kid that cannot SEE or HEAR, this family had Dove in their care for months. The shaking stopped. The trust bloomed. Dove was so admired by the eye specialists he would visit, at his many medical appointments. With fosters, Dove learned their house, their other Companion animals, where to find them, and he immersed himself in their world.
We cannot underline or emphasize enough the MAGIC ability that animals have - past impairment and without instruction - to FIT IT & FIND THEIR WAY. And when no one stepped forward to Adopt this gem, it became clear that Dove had also found his way INTO THEIR HEARTS. And Dove was given the GIFT of BEING HOME.
