Two of our directors (Lillian & Manny) leading a workshop on the importance of mentoring in schools at the @nationaleducationunion Black Educator’s conference this year. It was great to share the work of The Reachout Project to a room full of black educators seeking to inspire young people in their schools ✨

Speaking at the @nationaleducationunion Black Educators conference tomorrow with @lillztil on the power of mentoring on young people - for the 3rd year in a row. One thing about the NEU, if you’re a new teacher, I’d definitely recommend them as a union. They’re driven by action and represent their teachers well (Speaking from personal experience)

Meet our Youth Engagement Lead Marcus “I’ve been involved in charity my whole life. Growing up where I did it was instantly apparent that there needs to be a level of guidance, love and support from the right members of the community. Once I spoke with the team I felt it was the perfect fit for my goals. When I think about the Reach Out project, I envisage an immense tree, featuring a network of branches, ample fruit and deep roots. The fruit being nurtured and grown are the mentees/ students, with the support and nourishment from the tree they are able to grow, dream and fulfil their purpose, in addition to this many will be able to nurture and help cultivate their own fruit when the time is right in the future”

Two weeks ago, our mentors enrolled a new cohort of Year 8 students on to The Reach Out Project programme. We met with the students and their parents for a fun and engaging induction session to give them an insight as to what lies ahead! 💥

They see this young black man as just a well paid footballer so they treat him as such but he broke the mould of the conventional professional sports man and raised up to 20 million pounds. He fed approximately 3 million children. He campaigned for childrens rights when the Government left them to starve across the nation. Lift up our black men in moments of greatness and lift them up when they fall. A thousand great deeds today can be undone by 1 poor football performance or a public mistake. Let’s not forget ourselves. If we don’t protect and champion our current young kings how will the next ones rise up? 👑 Marcus Rashford

Meet our Programme Manager - Anthony. “I’ve been working with teens and young adults throughout my professional career, specialising in Criminology and Social Psychology. I started working with The Reachout Project because I’m passionate about grassroots work and providing opportunities for those who might not have access to them. The support and care we provide as mentors is something I wish I had growing up and I believe that with the right networks, guidance and belief systems we can achieve the goals we set for ourselves. My vision is to see young people with confidence, self believe, dreams and passion for their lives, something I feel that The Reachout project helps to nurture over time”
