What: The Q Corner increases access to 2SLGBTQIA+ welcoming and affirming community services, resources, support, and education throughout Santa Clara County. They offer one on one connection, peer support groups, resource navigation, community events, free wellness items (including gender affirming garments), and trainings and consultations, both in person and online. San Jose, CA. What: GACC provides outpatient behavioral health services to transgender and gender diverse folks (TGD) in Santa Clara County, offering support with gender exploration and congruence, as well as cultivating gender joy. They offer individual, group, relational, family therapy, individual and group peer support, psychiatry (18+), psychoeducation, resource linkage, and support with navigating gender affirming medical interventions, including writing letters of support, all in person and virtually. Who: The GACC serves gender diverse folks years 5 and older with MediCal insurance (or who are uninsured), who are seeking gender affirming behavioral health services. ✊🏽💜 We have extreme gratitude for those who bravely fought for equal rights, access to health care and greater social acceptance for queer and trans community long before VHS tapes, fax machines and cell phones were commonplace. Their fierce activism resulted in the legalization of same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination legislation, de-pathologizing sexuality as a mental illness, and less hostility from the public, all which created a smoother path for those who follow. 🔑🏠 It’s Affordable Housing Month - the perfect time to share some throwback pics from the Spring 4th & Reed housing project celebration! This massive collaborative effort was successful in preserving the Pallesen Apartments, by moving and renovating them to be affordably purchased by four different families. The advocacy from a community campaign, the amazing work by Habitat for Humanity, the funds from 2016 Measure A, and leadership from our Office of Supportive Housing Partners brought this dream to life. The event included powerful words from Supervisor Duong and Assemblymember Kalra, plus tours of the beautiful condominiums.
