American soccer has an atelier.
And it begins in Washington, D.C.
(
@dcunited )
This is not a clothing collection.
This is a shift in language.
For the first time in the history of Major League Soccer,
D.C. United, the club of the nation’s capital, treats its pre match image with the discipline of a Maison.
Under the leadership of Danita Johnson (
@danitajo_ )
and the vision of Caroline Young (
@cayyoung )
this project was built through process, not noise:
research, fittings, repetition, and respect for the institution, in full alignment with the league, its clubs, its players, its supporters, and its partners.
Through The Proper Label (
@theproperlabel ), my role was not to decorate, but to structure. To approach soccer the way a House approaches legacy: calmly, precisely, head to toe.
The pre match walk becomes intentional.
What players wear reflects preparation, discipline, and respect for the game.
Soccer presents itself with clarity and purpose.
Looking ahead to 2026, with respect for the past and confidence in what American soccer is becoming.
