"I am an open book" Acrylic on canvas(es). In this piece, I use layering of colors and the inverting of palettes of each canvas to show how a smile can mean pain and vice versa. Can facial expressions be trusted? Are the eyes truly the windows to one's soul? Human expressions are never as simple as they seem...calling to question if we can ever truly know another person (or our own self really)if we don't look beyond skin/surface level. Edit: note the title of the painting, but then the 'pages' of the book are literally brick walls- unreadable and hardened. Very sarcastic I guess🤣 #acrylicpainting #artists #paintersofinstagram #artistsofinstagram #artistoninstagram

Pros : 1.Paintings tend to feel more alive (not the same as realistic, that depends on layering) 2. Less technical skill threshold 3. Allows you to push boundaries with colors 4. Subconsciously teaches you values and color theory Cons: 1.Does not build observation skills as much 2. More time spent in the ugly phase of the painting 3. Can easily be less realistic than the direct method. Also I personally think direct painting is better for hyperrealism! @jaye.eastonn part 1 of me answering your questions, most selftaught artists think consistency and finding the right timing is stopping their progress but what really changed for my was being intentional with my approach to painting. (I honestly find editing reels like this hard and they always flop so I really hope this actually helps you. I'll answer the other questions you DMd by video also 💖) #artreels #artistoninstagram #artvideo #artists #acrylicpainting
