An exploration of a 70s classic We’ve long wanted to capture the essence of this electro-mechanical classic - and by essence, we mean all the mechanical clicks, noises, and beautiful imperfections of a machine over 50 years old. At first, we saw it as a natural evolution of our Cassette series, taken few steps further: 16 dynamic layers, release and mechanical samples - all still passed through tape in the end. Then, out of curiosity, we loaded the raw samples into the Tapes engine and started playing around - and it quickly became clear how we should shape its final form. The result? A deeply sampled, expressive instrument - a playground of evolving textures, all housed in a sound engine built for discovery and experimentation. Just the way we like it.

A little Spring inspired exploration with Outlines, the new virtual instrument by @thephonoloop Their instruments have lived at the heart of so much music I’ve made. The way they build from field recordings just clicks with how I think about texture and emotion, and it’s always felt like a genuine creative connection. Outlines is something else though. I had this idea in my head and decided to capture it in this video. Here I’m using Outlines by @thephonoloop , a Kontakt Player instrument built around raw acoustic gestures, tape loops, and modular-processed tonal experiments that feel both organic and cinematic. For the percussive accompaniment, I chose the BeatBuddy 2 by @singularsound , an interactive drum machine in pedal format designed to deliver realistic, studio-quality drum performances with dynamic control and fills. I also processed a few effects to make everything sit in the track in a smoother, more immersive way.

Just wanted to give you a small update on what’s been happening on our side. We’ve recently moved into a new workspace where we finally have our own individual project studios - and even some extra room to grow in the future. There’s a third, smaller room that could be perfect for a drum or vocal booth - perfect for super dry, isolated recordings. It was a no-brainer for us, as the entire floor already had additional acoustic and soundproof treatment. Every wall is packed with twice the usual amount of high-quality mineral wool, and each one is about 60 cm thick, which is perfect! Oh, and to top it off, each room already had soundproof doors installed...! :) We’ve already spent the past few weeks working on a new library - as you can see from the photos above. It’s something we’ve wanted to release for a very long time, so we’re really excited to finally show you what we’ve been cooking up behind the scenes! On the last slide, you can hear a short snippet made from a small selection of sounds that will be included in the library.
